Bridges - San Ramon

Hi Everyone, playing Pebble Beach next weekend and couldn't be more excited. Staying there, Saturday-Sunday. But will have a couple days where I will be in East Bay staying with my family after. I will not have a car, so I will need to uber but was looking to play Monday at Bridges because it is closest/cheapest uber. Any word on the course, should I play it, or look for something else?

Get a 1 day car rental for $35 and go out to Poppy Ridge/Wente or hop on Bart and go play Monarch Bay or Metro near Oakland airport.

Bridges is largely silly housing estate target golf. Assuming you're in San Ramon/Dublin, then Calippe Preserve is the closest course I'd play, as an out-of-towner.

I would highly recommend Calippe Preserve. One of the best public courses in the Bay Area. I like it better than Wente and Poppy Ridge, both of which are good courses.

Bridges is okay - I have played it 2-3 times and agree with duffer987's comment above. Calippe, I have played at least 20-30 times.

I'm the odd man out, but I love the Bridges, even compared to Poppy Ridge and Callippe. It's a lot of fun. Then again I like target golf.

I was not impressed with Bridges, but enjoyed Callippe.

Bridges is target golf with pretty heavey rough. I played in late summer and conditions were average. Get a yardage book for sure.

Condition should be good on all of them.

If you are a bit off the mark with the driver Bridges can take a lot of golf balls from you.

Callippe is a lot of fun and they are quite busy because of it.

Wente will cost you the most. It used to host a Web.com tour event in the Nationwide days.

Poppy has 27 holes and a big grass range if that's important.

Update, I think I am getting a car that opens up more options. Do you have to stay at Cordevalle to play there?

I believe you have to stay at Cordevalle to play. If you are a member of a club, you could have your pro try and set up a time without staying there. Not sure if it would be possible.

I am not sure if Cordevalle will be worth the drive and cost. I played it last June and it was fun/good, but not very memorable. If you are going to drive down to the peninsula, I would suggest Cinnabar Hills - I think it is a pretty awesome course - tough, with lots of elevation and interesting holes. I still remember a few holes from when I played there nearly 6 years back.

Honestly, if I were you, I would play Bayonet and Blackhorse on the way back from Pebble. I think the PGA Professional Championship is finishing up there today, so maybe they will be open. They are both tough courses. Or consider playing Poppy Hills.

If you are going to be in the East Bay and willing to spend $$ and have a memorable experience, I think someone suggested Wente earlier, and I would recommend that. Fun playing within the vineyards and great views and interesting holes.

Yup, no go on CordeValle. It seems like Wente may be the option. Our plans have gotten a bit out of whack, other than saturday/sunday at pebble. But either way should be a good time! Thanks for the input.
