New Nike Drivers

4 models

Nike just showed 4 new drivers at a recent meeting. SUMO, SUMO Tour, SUMO2, SUMO2 Tour. Don't know if those are the final names. At least three are going to be all titanium. I don't know about the SUMO2. Obviously there have been pictures of the SUMO2 Tour (all ti). They are very hopeful Tiger will play the SUMO2 Tour next year since all ti kind of helps with that hideous noise this year's SUMO2 made. When asked about the new Tiger blades they said no decision had been made yet. Most of the dealers agreed that Nike needs something in irons since sales aren't very spectacular with this year's models (not my words---theirs).

I would definitely like to see the new Sumo Tour. I guess Nike lied to me earlier in the year when I sent them an e-mail asking about a possible Sumo Tour. I was told no. :russian_roulette:

:russian_roulette: Man get over it! How many times are you going to tell us that NIKE LIED TO YOU? What is that 3 post that say the same thing? These NIKE offerings are not going to be available for consumers til feb 08. so, if they told you "EARLIER in the year ...." i guess they were not lying. Oh well i hope you get one sooner and let everyone know you got it before FEB 08 so you can tell everyone I lied to you.

Great info as always Sandy. Can't wait to see the new stuff. A new iron set is definitely needed as the others are certainly not selling well.

Just kidding of course. :cheesy: This was actually my second post saying that if I remember correctly. Either way I wasn't complaining about Nike, I could honestly care less. Plus I am sure they didn't lie. The customer service people rarely know whats going on it R&D. I thought my post had a bit of facetious sarcasm in it. Oh well. Not like I am going to buy one either way. I would like to see what its going to look like though. :russian_roulette:

Nike lies about this stuff all the time. Just ask anyone who called them right before the Sumo recall!

nike is on the cutting edge in technology. Some things might seem different but as we have seen they serve a purpose. Be careful people nike someday will be the dominant player in the golf world with tiger woods and a developing young tour staff, they will dominant every category in the golf business. They know how to make good stuff. Look forward to the new drivers, because I know it will be awesome.

This may be selfish of me, but I was -almost- getting used to being the only guy in the group to use Nike drivers/woods/hybrids. People would usually dig into me pretty good. That ended up stopping soon afterwards.

I have a strong feeling that's not going to be the 'norm' anymore with the new releases. I also have a strong feeling Nike is going to have a huge year with that section of the line up (if only the irons followed suit!). Only a lackluster field test of the new SUMO2 could kill the buzz of these releases.

That is probably only when I don't like something that someone else swears by. I certainly haven't been a big fan of Nike products since the first 400 cc driver and the original Blade irons (the irons continue to be Nike's best iron product to this day). That being said this years SUMO with a Diamana Blueboard has no competition. Flat out best driver I've had in two years + (and I have had them all with all the shafts that matter). I got all enthusiastic about the new Ping G10 but then put it back on the shelf with just one A-B comparison with the SUMO when I got home.

Only the Nike insiders would know but was Tiger using his same old driver this week? The reason I ask is it had a distinctly different sound when he used it. I suppose it could have been microphone placement.

A Sumo Tour model??? Say it ain't so. I was doubted when I posted about it in another thread, so I graciously thank you for this info, Sandy. Any comments as to differences in shape or face height(deeper or shallower, or the same) from the current models out???
