V Steel TP?!?

I've seen 2 of these on ebay recently...
Ok so what is the deal with V Steel TP 3 woods? When were these produced and what kind of differences are there between the TP and regular? The regular version seems to have a pretty straight face and seems to be geared toward the lower handicap. Anyways, please share any information regarding this club with me. Thanks, wayneebaby

I'm pretty sure these are the V-Steel 2's... from what i know and have read they are tour only and are shorter heel to toe and have more bulge and roll on the face... there are no plans to bring these to retail

These will show up retail in 2006. Named R7 Steel.

Slightly smaller cc compartment and moveable weights and head proportions that resembles the 200 Smoothtop tour

The r7 Steel and the V Steel II are two different clubs.

The r7 Steel is a smaller version of the r7 Titanium, that resembles a 200 Steel from address.

The V Steel II or "V Steel TP" looks like....well....a V Steel, and is tour only at this point, and with the addition of the r7 Steel, there is no real reason for it to come to retail.

don't you just love Taylor made, "not available to the public", I just love that. Don't they realize if somebody is going to shell out 300 bucks for a 3 wood, they would be able to sell more if they release a real good 3 wood. I had a feeling the tour players use a different version. I love my V Steel, but just looking at it it just screams that it could be improved a bit for a good player, but I guess we will never see it. I supposed the R7 3 wood with the screws on the back is their trump card which they know everybody will run out and buy. I love TM marketing, there just great. Oh, by the way TM, I would have bought your R7 it didn't have a hook face. Ok, off my soap box.

Matt,

If that is what wayneebaby meant with his first post, then I stand corrected. However, the V Steel II / V Steel TP that I am familiar with is as jumpman described, with a TP logo on the toe similar to all other TP metalwood products. And 100 pounds sterling is roughly $190 or so, which isn't that cheap.

Its $172 US. Tourspecgolf.com has them for $315. $172 for a new model isn't too bad.

FreddieC, what did you think could be improved with the retail V-Steel? I have a retail 4 wood V Steel and I love it. I think it is a terrific club with a low-handicap profile. This is why I was so interested in the changes that TM made with the TP models. I've only seen the TP in 15* versions.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
