She hits her 7-iron 145, I hit mine 155, she hits her driver 250, I hit mine 230. I was fitted and eveything, but is there a possible reason for this?

You need better fitting for your driver - maybe another shaft, maybe in another flex, maybe another loft on the driver head.......

 

Maybe Morgan has weaker lofts in her irons !

Also girls/ladies tend to hit more flat because of the two things on their chest, and this means they don't hit quite as much down on their irons, thus not delofting their irons qiute as much as men are. With the driver, this is not such a big factor, thus they can hit driver longer compared to irons.....

My name should be Mr MacGregor, but when I was looking for new clubs, I loved the Mizunos and wanted to buy them (that is when I joined this lovely site), but I hit the Macs just as good (cheaper). Thanks for the replies, any other reason?

Remember the fairways on the LPGA are like runways and the all runs forever. You probably carry your driver longer than she does.

What I found even more odd while reading her WITB on golfdigest.com. Is the way she marks her golf balls with a red dot. I mark mine the exact same way. With the dot in the same place. And I honestly had no idea she did that... :cheesy:

Only correspondence we have had was over e-mail. And though the e-mail she replied with was short, it was completely in response to the e-mail I sent(no automated reply), with normal person typing(not some computer), and signed 'MP' at the bottom I am not 100% it was really her. But who knows. I understand she spends alot of time on her laptop.

On the LPGA Tour drives roll out 40-50 yards with regularity.

Take her to your course that you play and you could probably sneek it by her.

You could be hitting the wrong driver too (shaft & loft combo)

But the sm :man_in_love: art money is on the airport runways known as Lpga Tour fairways.

I'd get refitted for a driver. 155 yd. 7 iron = 250+ drive.

7-iron for me from a fairway with no wind would be a standard 155-160, but my driver is 220-230.

SS: 92-93 average

Ball Speed:134mph average

Launch Angle:10*

Backspin:1952rpm

At your ball speed, you need to hit it higher. You also need a bit more spin. Going up in loft should do both. What is your set up now? You should get fit for another driver. You could probably pick up some yards...

I am surprised no one responded about iron lofts. It could be she was weaker lofts than you, or that she knows her real carry only distances.

 

I know I would say I hit a 7 iron 150, but I should probably hit it for 140 to be safe.

Has anyone ever noticed that LPGA players use some pretty low lofted drivers?

 

Why is that? My SS is 100-105 which puts me on the upper end of LPGA players and I use 10.5 lofted drivers in order to get the launch and spin right.

IMO they use low lofted drivers because they are hitting drivers with forced upswings to gain distance.

 

Watch some of the top LPGAer's like Gulbis, Ochoa or Kramer. Unfortunately, these beautiful ladies, will need to change their swings drastically if they want to play pro golf past 30, or before their backs are completely gone.

You probably have a more confident, consistent and more rhythmic swing with your 7i than with your driver.

Shorter, more upright and more loft.

I got, Ijust need a new driver----The cobra speed pro LD, for me its a bomb, my SS is 93-93 and im carrying it 230-240, so i'm very happy with that, i might even put an ozik into it (IT WILL NOT BE LIME GREEN---makes you lokk like f*g) I might purchase it through a fellow member.
