Help! Where to get GPS repaired?

My Garmin approach G3 touchscreen cracked and I'd like to get it repaired. I have other GPS; e.g. approach G6 & S2, but the G3 was a bday gift and is sentimental to me. I called Garmin and they don't repair, they'll just send a refurbished one and suggested that I try a cell phone repair shop. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

How much was the refurb? In the end that might be cheaper.

 

What part of the world do you live. You can try shops like "U break I fix", but I doubt that they will have the parts.

 

Search eBay for a replacement screen. It might even be a DIY project. I remember replacing iPod screens a few years ago (it came with all the tools needed).

Also, search for parts for Garmin Dakota 10 or 20. Many times Garmin products share the same form/hardware, just different functions. Many times the part numbers are the same.

Hi dbdors, I'm in Central Fl. I didn't ask about the refurbished price because I wanted this unit fixed (bday gift from son.) I stopped by a cell place today and he said that it would cost way more than a $60 used one on ebay. Thanks for the ebay links... I think I will open her up and see if I can find a cheap replacement screen and do it myself. I have my other GPS so I can take my time on this. Thanks again for the help! :-)

Did they say they could actually get a screen. Good luck, Im sure you can fix it yourself.

 

Edit: I haven't watched them but there are a couple of YouTube videos on the Dakota (there's a youtube video for everything).
