Been a Lawn-Boy guy for decades.  Own 3, one of which my dad bought in 1963, my year of birth.

Saw Jimmy live about 12 years ago, just him, the piano and a little acoustic guitar in brief patches in a small club. It sounded precisely like this version. Just keeps sounding better as he ages.

I wrote a post a while back in "the Grille" about my 21-inch cut Lawn Boy from around 1968. My uncle bought it new but was tired of the small cut size and wanted a self-propelled. So I traded him out of it by washing his car once a week during the summer. I used it for 10 or so years (still have it) starting in 1972. I wore a hole in the deck and patched with an old worn out blade and my dad's "heli-arc" machine. I replaced the blade 7 times. I replaced all 4 wheels at least twice, and the push bars once. But the engine never missed a beat and still starts on the first pull. I mowed lawns for 10-11 years and must've made $10K, $5-$10 a yard.

 

When my sons came of age to mow, they got to use it. I know they tried to tear it up but knew they couldn't unless they didn't add the oil to the gas and the alternative for them was an 18-inch reel mower. It survived 11-12 years of that.

 

It's still sitting down at the barn and occasionally someone needs it and always brings it back, amazed it still starts and runs like a top.

Combine a typically brilliant James Taylor song and a superb vocalist and you get something special. Marcia came to Australia as a teenager early 70s and earned her stripes as one of the all-time best Aussie vocalists and performers.
