Taylormade Burner plus Irons... anyone still gaming these?

I have been struggling with Iron play for awhile... I was an 8HC last year, I'm prob up around 12 right now. Currently playing Ping IE1 Irons. I have a random Taylormade Burner 7 Iron in my hodge podge of old clubs in my garage.... I've never even hit this club until yesterday I picked it up and hit some balls in the net. I have to say looking down at the head certainly is pleasing to the eye with the offset and the thick top sole. The club felt sooo easy to hit the sweet-spot.

Am I crazy for thinking about Trading in my Pings for a 10 year old set of Irons... ? Or maybe a newer set that is comparable... I feel like 90% of people are looking to get out of these and move to a "better" set.

No one responded here, so I will. I gamed burner plus irons from 2013 to 2018. They were stone stock and and brand new. They saw me go from a 20+ cap to an 11. They were very forgiving for me and improved my game quite a bit. I recently decided to move on to forged blades, but kept the burners in the closet if needed. They are a serviceable set of irons and did, for me, exactly what they were designed to do: foregiveness plus distance. I don't think you're crazy at all.

I’m a six handicap playing irons from 2012... I got them this year, they replaced my set of Taylor made oversize irons from 1995.

most irons don’t wear out... I need them to go certain distances, I don’t need them to fly farther. I have no use for a set where the pitching wedge goes 170 yards.

if you can find a set, take the plunge... worst case scenario you can trade them in / resell them.

I’ll buy that 7 iron from you. My set is “missing” the 7 iron and I’m gifting the set to a guy that is just taking up the game of golf.
