Pet the grass!

Heard the expression “pet the grass” with the right hand on downswing a couple weeks ago and just started to incorporate it into my game. I’m sure this subject has come up before but one of the more dramatic swing thoughts I’ve experienced and added a lot to my distance and accuracy.

Others out there that use this swing thought?

Same as "knuckles down"?

Is there a certain trail hand grip that will work better of worse with that thought? (Stronger or more neutral)

I’ve always tried to pinch the ball between the club face and the ground. Forty years of positive results.

Seems like it is going to cause a really shut clubface unless your interpretation means to increase side bend on the downswing in which case it could be good.

I like it. I think of it more as dragging a paint brush with the right hand.

To me, knuckles down refers to the left hand thru impact. Knuckles down with the right hand would be a huge flip.

You couldn't ever get there literally with the force and speed of the swing. Just saying that I think 'pet the grass' thru impact means the same as palm down with the right hand which is the right sided version of the left hand going 'knuckles down'. That said, I think it would be better to address causes of flipping and better ways to achieve proper shaft lean thru impact. YMMV.
