PXG Hybrid 0317x Gen 1 vs Gen 2

For those out there that own or have spent some time with the PXG 0317x Gen 1 & Gen 2 hybrids....as well other than the “looks” difference.

 

Is there really a difference between the two Gen’s? If you were blind folded (hard to hit a ball...i know) would you know a difference?

The main difference is sound. The non-X is supposed to be higher spinning and feels a touch firmer, but they both flat out perform. I switched from Titleist H1 and absolutely love the PXGs.

I have both the Gen 1 and Gen 2. They said Gen 2 is supposed to be longer but if it is it’s not by much. I actually like the feel of the Gen1 over the Gen 2 as it’s heavier and I can feel the head better through the swing. The extra weight gives it a better wack at impact for me. I also have the Gen 2 3 wood but I prefer the Ping G410 3 wood as it’s a little heavier and feels more solid when I connect. Don’t get me wrong the PXG 3 wood is the longest I’ve ever hit and I crush it but it’s a feel thing for me.

 

Both Gen 1 and Gen 2 are amazing and one of the best hybrids I’ve hit but to me the Gen 1 is my choice. Actually looking for a 22* now as I’ve had some issues with my 5i off the deck. I’ve never hit a hybrid above 19* but I feel confident with the PXG hybrids.

Anymore updates on this thread? Thinking about picking up a Gen1 Hybrid because the awesome Hero’s deal going on right now.

The G2 sole provides for more forward weighting compared to the G1. This low and forward weighting produces a lower ball flight with less spin.

Former owner of both the G1 and G2 hybrids.

Thanks Bob. Sounds like the Gen1 may be higher launching and maybe more forgiving.

Loving the Hero deal they have for $95 when picking up some 0211’s. Have my fitting next week.
