Wishon Superlite steel shafts

I purchased a set of 771cdi irons that have WIshon superlite steel shafts in regular flex.

 

I have done some calcs to determine the raw shaft weight, as these are parallel shafts (0.370), so come in one raw shaft length of 42" for regular flex.

 

I am getting cut shaft weights of mid 90 gram range, which calculates out to a raw shaft weight of 116 g for the 42" shaft.

 

This is higher than the current specs for the Superlite steel shafts, so I'm a bit confused, as the spec raw weight is supposed to be 99 g, give or take.

 

So, either I am misinterpreting the raw shaft specs, or wishon has tweaked the design (weight) of the superlite steel shafts.

 

See attached photo (step pattern is that the first 3 steps are 1/2" apart and then the steps are at 1" intervals.

 

I'm looking to purchase a replacement superlite shaft for the pitching wedge, and am concerned if the current superlite shafts might not match the ones in this set.

106 grams / 42.00" = 2.52 grams pr inch

 

For a #3 iron thats 39.00" with a BBGM of 1.25, Net cut length would be 37.50" without grips is we measure incl dome om the grip.

37.50 x 2.52 = 94.5 Net cut shaft weight for the #3 iron

 

The #9 iron in a 4/8 set is 3 inch shorter, who gives 34.50" net shaft x 2.52 grams = 86.94 grams net cut weight.

 

I did NOT bother to include balance point, but this numbers want me more off than weight tolerances is.

 

Compared to a Constant weight #9 iron shaft, we can take 2.52 grams x 37.00 = 93.24 grams uncut.

I have been playing this shaft for years and have never seen much weight variance at all. I surely haven’t had any near or above 110g. To the best of my knowledge, this profile has remained unchanged for many years.

 

As DaveLeeNC said, Tom and now the folks at Diamond golf have always been very responsive.
