San Diego / Carlsbad Current Course Conditions

I’m headed to San Diego and Carlsbad and have some time to get two rounds in. What are some of the best course conditions in this area and what should I look to play?

My choices, in order, excluding Torrey (which is great if you can get on this time of year):

Maderas (located in Poway, about 30 minutes from Carlsbad) ~$130

Aviara ~$250

La Costa or Carlsbad Crossings (a distant third and fourth)

Conditions are excellent in San Diego right now. I actually played Maderas yesterday, and it was in fantastic shape.

I wouldn't recommend playing Torrey until after the Farmers.

I don't know if you even can....I can't seem to book tee times at either Torrey course after Saturday...and I can't find anything posted that says when they shut down the courses for the event...

Can't go wrong with Maderas. A group of us were out there this past June and played Torrey North (South was under construction), Crossings at Carlsbad (a sleeper in my opinion), Steele Canyon (Canyon/Ranch), and Maderas. I loved being at Torrey and the North course is great (especially the back 9) but I wish we would have been able to play a full 18 on the South. Maderas is really....really good in my opinion. Crossings at Carlsbad was in excellent shape and after the first few holes, the course has great character.
