Don't know if this is right forum, but thought I would share this. Just got a call from brother-in-law and he is at the Golf Galaxy in Memphis. The store is closing(don't know why) but everything in store is discounted. Equipment, clothing, etc. 20-40% off everything. Just a heads up to everyone.

That's odd. I lived in Memphis for a short time and remember the GG opening there, it was probably only 2 years ago or less. At the time I thought it would do well as there weren't a lot of other options there and it was in a good location. I had heard that a Golfsmith was going to open there last year but I thought the GG had a better location.

Struck me as odd also. I ask my brother-in-law if he was sure and he was standing in the store when he called and said it was true.

Golf Galaxy was in a bad spot in Cordova, it was real hard to get in and out of. Double Eagle pretty has that area on lockdown and rightfully so because they have the most knowledgable staff of any golf store I've ever been in. Dick's sporting goods also just opened a store right across the street from GG and Golf discount superstore is right down the street in a better location. I kinda figured when they opened that GG they would have a tough time making it. The new Golfsmith is in the southwind area and seems to be doing well, they actually hired some people that know what they are talking about. thanks for the heads up, I might need to go check it out.

Double Eagle is by far the best in Memphis. I was there about two weeks ago and was very impressed with what the staff knew. My wife was looking for rain gear and they didn't just blow her off like most stores do.

Their used equipment was priced like they really wanted to sell it. Most other places seem like they price so they want you to buy new.

I couldn't agree more about Double Eagle. I live about 5 minutes from GG but still fight the traffic on g'town pkwy to go to Double Eagle for almost all my purchases. I've been to Dick's and it's a great sporting goods store but I was not impressed with their golf selection. Oh well, I guess I'll still hit up the GG and get a few things while they're on sale.

I'd guess it's the fact that Dick's bought out GG and doesn't really want to compete to closely with itself. I've read on some other forums of other GG's closing that are near DSG stores.

Thanks for the heads up. I picked up an Adams Idea Pro iWood for $63, along with 1/4th of their Life Is Good inventory. My friend picked up some Ecco shoes, new grips, Odyssey Black Series putter. When I left there was still a like new set of Callaway X-20s for $440!!!! There's also a Scotty Cameron putter used for $143! For anyone in the Memphis area, I would suggest you check it out. They are giving 20% on every club in the store, New and Used - NO EXCLUSIONS!

Now the question is, will they do like 2nd swing and keep dropping prices....
