Thoughts on Scotty Flowback 5 or 5.5?

Anyone using these long term?

 

Cameron said it's basically a GoLo with some modern aesthetic changes. I never used a GoLo before but I know many people and Pro's have used this shape with some success.

Not using it, but I spend a good amount of time with the Flowback 5 at Golf Galaxy over a few different afternoons this year when looking to upgrade my flatstick.

 

The ball feels solid coming off the face.  There's no insert, just an aluminum plate in the sole to create a sense of perimeter weighting. Some people like the inserts of past years, but my experience was that the ball felt dead coming off the face with (for example) the 2019 Select Fastback.

 

Also know that there is some toe-hang with the Flowback.  I was using a completely face-balanced mallet (Taylor Made Rossa Fontana) that fit my straight-back, straight-through stroke.  The toe hang with the Flowback is not to the extent you see with a Newport - I'd estimate it at 25% - but the Flowback is NOT face balanced.

 

The level of toe-hang was why I didnt buy the putter - I settled on a 2015 Select Fastback with just a hint of toe-hang.

 

Were it not for the toe-hang, I probably would have put the Flowback in the bag.  The feel was excellent.  Hope this helps.

I just bought one.. in the store it played a lot like my trusty ping zing but felt more stable.

I’m also kicking around the idea of giving the flowback 5.5 a go.

Just picked one up recently. My sight seems to be failing and the long sight line was something I wanted to try.  I got the 5.5. Seems to help with my accuracy but the feel is nothing spectacular coming from gaming a TP Mills soft tail. Both have about the same toe hang so there is no getting used to the stroke. Time will tell if it gets some bag or time.

I have the Flowback 5 and it is definitely a good blend between the Golo and the Roundback visually. Good feel off the face, nice milling, sets up well...I'm a big fan. I have been back and forth to blades and whatnot but I am glad to be back in a larger mallet.

I went ahead and ordered a flowback 5.5. Supposed to be here tomorrow, the day before my birthday.  Have a Phantom 5.5 in my other bag.
