Started my first winter indoor golf league tonight.....

I have never hit on a simulator other than a fitting for irons and even that was in to a net that I couldn't see graphics.  Everything was good EXCEPT for the driver. I couldn't hit a drive to save my life which is not the case outdoors on the course. Every drive except for one was either off the ground first, or skyed (which I NEVER do).  It seemed to get better teeing it lower than I normally do but I can't figure out why I can't hit my driver in a simulator.  Is this a common thing?

Pretty common for people to be subconsciously worried about hitting their normal swing indoors.

Usually happens when someone buys a launch monitor, goes on a forum complaining that theirs is broken because its saying their drive is 50 yards lower than it should be. Then people tell them about the indoor swing effect. Eventually they get over that syndrome and start hitting it better, but still probably not as far as they thought they did. Occasionally the launch monitor actually is messed up though. Tees are different, your stance/setup may subtly change too.

Continuing, I found that if you hit any portion of the mat before the ball. Swing speed, distance and flight will be affected. When on grass this doesn't have such a great effect on speed, distance and flight.

I’ve played in an indoor league the last 2 years. I found for some reason if I move the weight to the front of the driver instead of keeping it in the back like I usually do I get better results with the driver. If your miss is consistent move where the computer has you aimed. One thing I learned that helped lower my score is always pay attention to where the simulation has you aimed. It always has you aimed the straightest line to the hole which a lot of times is not the best way the shot you may have.

Driver- Tour Edge EXS 220

4W- Sub 70 949X

4H- Sub 70 949X

Utility- Sub 70 699U 21 degree

Irons- Sub 70 749 5-PW

Wedges - Sub 70 286 50+54 degree

Tour Edge 1 out 58 degree

Excuse my last sentence. It should say. It always has you aimed the straightest line to the hole which a lot of the time is not the best way to hit the shot you have.
