Top50 Junior Tour

I want to put this out there because it might save someone from a wasted weekend especially if you looking around to play different tournaments.

 

You Should avoid this tour completely.   If you play this tour you actually might think you need to discourage you kid from playing because it is so bad.

 

I could go on and on why but basically you will suddenly think your local US Kids tour is run very well. 

 

 

To put things in perspective they allow caddies for all age groups so don't expect any college coaches to respect this tour. I put that out there because they will say otherwise.

Never even heard of it. I’m of the mindset that we need another junior tour about as much as another hole in my head.

Top 50 is run in Michigan and Florida.  The guy who runs the Florida Top 50 is the same guy that messed up our HS regional tournament.  Really questionable that he knows what he is doing.  I am going to be nice and not shout his name out over the world wide web.

You are correct he is very clueless so much so I am shocked anyone would get him anywhere near the HS regionals.

 

A good example is we had 5 groups waiting to tee off on a par 3. It  took an hour between holes and he thought that is was not a big deal because things would speed up so it didn't effect anyone (we never finished 18 holes though).  I could on and on and on with stuff this guy said. We actually had to tell him that we are not going to play in the dark when you can't see a hole.   The whole weekend was just crazy exhausting and mentally draining. Learned it's sometimes better to not do a tournament sometimes.

 

The tour is mainly in Florida and Michigan but they are growing and expanding to other states in the south next year.  Just don't get excited about them. The tour should not be a ranked tournament with AJGA stars.

I don't see a "need" for any national Junior Tour. For example, regional golf associations host local and , or, statewide junior tournaments. And for the kids who shoot especially low scores and, or, dominate their local/regional tournaments, there are a few longstanding national-worldwide field events they can travel to and play, such as the USGA National Junior and Junior World Tournament.
