Ideas for getting to a Textbook P6 position.

Recommended Posts

Hi again fellow golfers. I'm continuing to work on my swing and really appreciate the previous help that I've received on this forum.

I'd be really interested to hear any of your ideas for how I can get my hands more in front of my hips at P6 as opposed to being left of the hips from the face on view.

Am I making the perfect P6 positiion impossible from the get-go with my setup and/or backswing, or is a textbook P6 position something I could achieve from the top of my backswing given the correct intent and movement swinging down?

In your opinion what is the reason that my hands aren't more in front of the hips at P6?

And what might I do or feel to get to a better P6 position?

All opinions and ideas will be greatfully receieved as I've tried all sorts of feels and just cannot get to a hands in front the hips position without having lost a bunch of lag and then by impact I've little to no shaft lean.

Thanks very much for looking.

Well Sir,

I will explain this to you , but my explanation will probably not suit you if you are looking for a easy way out! If your are searching for OPINION and THEORY I suggest you read NO FURTHER!

The left side of your brain controls RIGHT SIDE MOVEMENTS and it is more than 80% dominant in a right - hander ! More than 40 % of your brain is dedicated to it extremities - this thingies called HANDS down there attached to your ARMS ! This thingies that make it possible for your to survive in life and those that perform billions of everyday * NATURAL * task that are locked in your subconscious mind .
If ONLY This GOLF SWING THINGIE was in my subconscious mind , but it is NOT . It is a totally foreign TASK ! A CONSCIOUS LEARNED TASK  that is DIRECTLY OPPOSITE TO THE HUMAN GENETICS/ STRUCTURE ! We have to teach our DOMINANT HANDS ( particularly our dominant right ) that it’s responsibility is *** TO ONLY CONTROL THE MOVEMENTS OF THE BODY . **** That they have NO POWER to propel any object ! Yet , they direct it !

At 0.153 in your front - on video you can clearly see that your HANDS ( particularly your dominant right) has referred to its NATURAL GENETICS DESIGN and has already displayed it dominance and evil intent and threw / hit / release the lever you so wonderfully formed at the top . Game over , power dissipated and you are left with NOTHING to strike with and everything has crumbled at impact ! Those left side LAT and back muscles your stretched during your BS were waiting for their DOMINANT HANDS to signal them to PULL YOUR TORSO BACK AROUND WITH THEIR POWER , but that never happened !

We MUST teach our HANDS to perform this task that is TOTALLY FOREIGN AND UNNATURAL AND OPPOSITE THEIR **** NATURAL ***** HUMAN GENETICS DESIGN.
if you carefully observe your favorite PGA player at 0.153 compared to yours your will easily see what I have described! Easy to say , yet difficult to perform . Knowledge helps to start learning!

Good luck !

Hi Lane, thanks for your comments here and on other people's threads. I've been tinkering with some right hand/wrist feels in the downswing and was wondering whether you think the following is an improvement on my previous swing?

My amateur eye thinks your weight is not shifting back on your backswing.  Then you're all arms in the downswing. Think your problems are happening way before p6.

No doubt my problems have to be happening way before p6, wondering if it's more a case of my backswing making it harder or even impossible  to get to P6 properly, or whether it's my transition/downswing move that is incorrect. I definetely feel all arms in the downswing but ironically this intentional as I'm trying to get my arms to catchup to my body. I haven't found much detailed discussion about what actually get a player to a good P6 position. There's Monte's 68 ballerina which is the hips sliding too far forward and the arms being left behind causing the early flip. I suppose with that in mind I'm feeling all arms to get them to come down faster. Looking at the following stills I need to get my left arm 3 inches more forward at this same moment during the downswing and voila! Question is why isn't my lead arm 3 inches more forward? There's lots different about Tiger's hips, shoulders, torso, wrists, face angle, arms, head, everything! And assuming all aforementioned body parts of mine are wrong and I can't get to P6 without fixing them all, what should I fix first to at least get my lead arm 1 inch closer to a better P6 position? And Lane, if you're reading this and as much as I love your contributions, I get that the *Dominant* Right hand is doing what it's genetically predisposed to do and turning over, and I see that I'm releasing the lever from the top. But even after reading Gerry Hogan's book twice I'm not getting any results that click with me when solely focusing on my hands making a sideways karate chop to propel the hosel towards 7 o'clock on the ball.

Look at p2 for the root cause.

Thanks. What am I looking at? Seems as though I have a lot less rotation of shoulders and torso. I look a little disconnected with my arms too. Maybe my right arm is more bent than it should be. Any other thoughts?
