Certainly with old models (not sure about Si3, G2, G5) the advertised lofts where stronger than normal. They measured them a different way which is why the had a 5.5* driver for a while. It was really 7*. Not sure about newer models though. Maybe someone else will be able to chime in on this.

I think there could be some truth to that because I was hitting a buddies of mine in the spring. I was a 9 degree with a NV shaft. I think the shaft was stiff and i was hitting it very very high. but that driver is super solid.

Actually Pings lofts are usually right on the money more so than any other OEM.

Not calling you a liar, but do you have any proof/documentation that supports your statement that Ping clubhead degrees are more accurate than any other OEM?

No I don't.It's just that it's fairly common knowledge among club builders that Pings loft and lie is very accurate most times.Callaway and TM are well known for jacking with the lofts more so than others. Not saying it's a bad thing,it just seems to more the case when measuring OEM's in a good loft and lie machine.

I've been yold that the lofts for the Ping G5 Drivers are one degree more than they say, 9 degree is really a 10 and the 10.5 is really a 11.5. Is this true?

i mentioned this in another recent post as well...in a recent addition of tgc's witb, the episode focused on drivers...it was mentioned that most drivers are about 1 degree higher than what is listed on the club head...i.e., if it says 9.5, it will play more like a 10.5...none of the companies flat out admitted it except PING...the Ping guy said it is a macho thing...people feel more comfortable buying a 10.5 degree driver than a 11.5 because of the macho factor

100% true Ping drivers are all 1* - 1.5* higher in actual loft than stated loft on the sole. They do this on purpose. It is also 100% true that their specs are much more consistant and accurate than other OEMs. They make it a priority while others dont.

I beg to differ on this one..

I have owned a G2 11.5 head.. it measured a full 14 degrees or 2.5 over spec.

I called Ping and they say acceptable tolerance is +/- 1 degree.

I was hitting the Moon with mine and Ping offered to replace it with another Driver.

On the other hand, my TisiTec 3FW measured right on the dot, 14 degrees.
