Would taking butt end weight out of StrokeLab putter completely mess up feel?

I would like to make my Strokelab 10 putter head feel heavier. Have already added 35G weights to head. Was wondering what would happen if I take out butt end weight and just regrip with a Suoestroke tour 2.0 (50 some grams)

Will shaft flex to much? Will I get desired heavier feel at head?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts or those that have done something similar.

I have been toying around with this in a new stroke lab putter the past few weeks and this is easy for me to answer.

It all depends on the weight of the grip you are using.  The butt end weight is just that, it's a weight.

If you are talking about doing this with a 2021 White Hot, I can tell you the grey stock grip weighs 79 grams and the weight is 30 grams.  So 109 grams total.  How do I know this?  I weighed them when I removed them.

I have tried 3 different grips, both with reinserting the butt end weight and leaving it out.

If you want the head to feel heavier, then you need a total grip + weight (or no weight) to be less than the stock 109 grams.

When I put on a 70 gram grip without the weight, the head felt VERY heavy.

When I put on a 55 gram Super Stroke grip with a 25 gram counter core insert (i.e. 80 grams total), the head still felt heavy but not as much.

My preferred grip is the Tour SNSR straight 104cc.  That weighs 90 grams.  I tried it without the weight and I didn't like the heavy head feeling.  So I reinstalled and added the weight.  Now my grip end is 11 grams heavier than stock.  The head feels pretty much the same and I like it.

I noticed no difference in shaft flex throughout this process.  It was all about how heavy (or light) the head felt.

Thanks Abenjami.....just the info I'm looking for.

I'm coming off a 'Heavy Putter" I've used for years. I personally like the feel of the putter head being heavy. Will try the SS w/o butt end weight first, then tinker if I have to.

Appreciate it.

If you're throwing a Superstroke on there definitely take out the Odyssey weight as you can always use a SS Countercore weight if you need the extra weight under the grip without needing to worry about pulling the grip.

The Strokelab weight is about 30g.  If you remove it and negate the counter balance, it will create a very head heavy putter.  You will either need to reduce weight at the head or add the weight back at the butt end somehow to maintain the overall swing weight.

The simply answer is, yes, removing the counter balance weight is going to negate the benefits of stroke lab.  Keep in mind, this shaft is designed to be counterbalanced.  It is not a typical steel putter shaft that is "relatively" consistent in weight and flex throughout the entire length of the shaft.

Also, note that Superstroke counter core weights will not fit into a stroke lab shaft.  The walls are thick and the opening is too small for the weight to slide inside.

As someone who has a Superstroke Countercore weight in my Strokelab White Hot OG that is false. It absolutely fits.

Thanks for this info. Did not know that a SS counter core weight would not fit in the shaft. That changes everything.

Appreciate it.

The Countercore weight fits in the shaft, I've put both a 75g and 50g weight into my White Hot OG with Strokelab shaft.

It definitely fits.  I put both a 25g and 50g into mine when I was experimenting.

Does this potential fit issue apply to the Odyssey Tri-Hot 5k putters with the Strokelab shaft (Stroke Lab 3Gen Red 70 Class)?  I'm going to replace the grip on my Tri-Hot 5k Seven (34") and may look at the SuperStroke offerings.  If so, I'd remove the SL weight and would likely need to use the SS CounterCore system.
