PXG Driving Iron Hosel depth

Hello,

 

looking to find out the hosel depth (or how much it adds to the shaft) upon install. I have a Gen 2 3DI shaft at 39” new and appears like it will add .5” overall to the club (39.5 total playing length). Just wanted to check..

What you want is the BBGM (bottom bore to ground measurement), not the bore depth.

 

I can't say what it is for that head but typically this is between 1" and 1.5" in std bore irons (less for bore through designs) so your 1/2" number seems suspect.  But if you already have the head and the shaft, dry fitting the shaft into the head and measuring out the playing length in a club ruler is the best way to find it.  And that is the only method that should be used to determine where to butt cut to length.  There are too many variations in how playing length is measured to really depend that much on someone else's measurement when cutting a shaft.

Appreciate the feedback. I didn’t have the head separated yet, only was getting ready to drop it off. I assumed it would be closer to 1” added. The shaft is a GD AD Driving Iron which is 39” raw. I imagine it should likely sit at 40” total length post install.

It's not as easy to "eyeball" as one might think at first.   But if you want to get an idea based on the existing shaft that's installed, then the bore depth might help from that perspective.  And bore depths for irons are typically around 1.25" (not including any ferrule) so that might help give a (very) rough estimate.
