Any rules officials have a definitive answer for this??

In USGA qualifiers where you cannot use a golf cart, you must walk but caddies and push carts are allowed, can you use a motorized push cart that is controlled by remote?  

 

If any tournament players have gotten an answer from the USGA or rules officials have an answer I would really appreciate it.  I emailed the USGA but they haven't responded yet and I have a qualifier in 7 days.

I know for MidAm qualifying coming up it says that motorized carts are allowed. Don’t know why it would be different from one to the next.

Was that from the local association who is conducting the qualifier?

It seems it would be (SCGA) for the US MidAm. Sorry not to be more useful.

The USGA Conditions of Competition say:

 

Prohibiting Use of Motorized Transportation — Local Rule as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect. Model Local Rule G-6

To be clear, this restriction is "must not ride on any form of motorized transportation....". There is no problem with a motorized cart that you do not ride. That is, it is all about ensuring that the competitor (and caddie) walks the course.

The USGA responded to my email this morning......

 

Thanks for your message. We do allow motorized push carts, however, the final decision is at the discretion of the qualifying host club. If they do not allow push carts on their course, then unfortunately you may not use one.
