Mac I do not know on that one-- I played Spalding clubs back in my teenage years through High School etc but never did any shaft work. LOL back in those days I could install a grip or rewhip a Persimmon but that was about it.

Post script to the Fg17 story. I found a red band on one of the set which makes them stiff flex.

Secondly the 3 iron had a bend at the hosel. In fear and trepidation I moved the ferrule upwards and applied heat and prayed. It shifted easily, so no threaded shaft and no bend inside the hosel...lucky me.

I heated the shaft with a torch, straightend the bend, reheated and quenched the shaft and refixed. Have to wait and see if that is successful.

I now know I can get the rest of the heads off and can put some tip weighting in the shafts before reassembly, happy days!

I did have a full set of Bullettbacks that I found on the scrap pile. Did not hit those good and I gave those to Old School Rocker when he came to visit me. He loved them. In fact I slipped one of my beloved JPs 56* wedge in the bag for this weekends play.

I'd love to see those things. 

 

It's funny how we all get along differently with our irons.  Some like one brand and some like another but one thing seems to remain constant - lead tape means business.  I don't mess with those guys.  When I see lead tape I just back off and watch...
