Ryo Ishikawa playing GD Japan's new flagship the TOUR AD Quattrotech MD. This shaft is availble in the U.S. on special order and MSRP: $380. The shaft incorporates Axial Composite Interlace (ACI) Technology (the visible technology featured in YSQ and first launched last year in Quattrotech) through the tip section producing a neutral launch MID kick profile.

I have had a MD 5 stiff for 2 months. Great shaft for those that liked the Quattro Tech, but want a more boring penetrating trajectory with the driver. I switched drivers so this one may be up for sale.

Tech talk...

For the Quattrotech MD, think of the Pershing on steroids with ACI. This bend profile is actually based off the TOUR AD PT Series (used by the #1 ranked player in CHINA in 2007).

The major difference is Axial Composite Interlace in the tip and mid section and a stiffer flex range including TX flex for the MD-6, 7, and 8. Even the Asian players are beefing up now!!

Each flex in Quattrotech MD has the same kick, MID, except for the lighter weight MD-5 series with a low to mid kick for higher launch. All together, a super low resin based composite with ACI produces little to no shaft deformation with a LOW-Neutral launch.

I though the 9003x and P9003x were the top end of the GD's now, especially since both shafts were based off JPGA tour proto's

The 9003 only comes in 2 flexes. The P9003 in only 1. These shafts are the rebuttal to "TOUR AD shafts are soft and low kick" and only fit the power/aggressive tempo. Think again boys, GD has the full range of shafts to fit all golf swings. Unfortunately, the U.S. doesn't know about them because they're not advertised. Look at all the swing profiles you can fit with both Quattrotech series. If you haven't seen GD Japan's website, take a look!

get a translator! Did any of you know there were that many TOUR AD shafts out there? 7 out of the top 8 money winners on the Japan PGA tour used GRAPHITE DESIGN in 2007. Over 160+ tournamets have been dominated by Graphite Design useage for graphite wood shafts!!

KJ was just testing!! The head was a 8.5 and he plays a 9.5 head with a Matrix shaft around 275 cpms.

Noticed Kevin Sutherland with what looks like a Quattro shaft. Maybe one of the older ones though it looks green instead of blue.

Graphite Design makes a very high quality product and seems to be moving fast into the US wheelhouse! Once the weather breaks I will be doing a full review of a number of setups and shaft options including PM-702, YS-6+, Pershing and this new model hopefully. They will be loaded in todays hottest fairways and drivers so there should be something for everyone. More to come when the weather breaks here on the Cleveland tundra!
