Vessel Player III vs Ghost Anyday Bag

Recommended Posts

Looking to get one of these stand bags but can't decide. It looks like they are very similar quality, only major difference I can see is they have different pockets. Just curious if anyone has experiences with these bags and could recommend one over the other? Also, will either of them fit a Yeti 18oz container in the front pouch? Post pics if you have them!

Everything you could want to know about the PLayers III is here:

Not much info here on the Ghost golf bag, which in itself might be a bit telling.   Go check out that thread and then look at the Youtube reviews on the Ghost bag and go from there.   For me personally, if I'm going for a bigger golf bag, I'd want a full size pocket on the side.

Just got the vessel vlx2.0 and can’t imagine a better bag. Had the linksmaster and liked it but this bag is way better built and more comfortable.

I looked at that one, but was concerned on pocket storage for rain gear, pullovers, etc.

Honestly unless you are packing multiple layers you should have more than enough room in the two side pockets. Can easily fit a rain jacket, pullover, and pants between the two side pockets.

Same concern here. I really wanted to like it because it’s sleek but, after seeing it in person, could see garment storage during cold/wet weather being difficult. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a player iii today.

Post pics when you get it and let me know how it goes. I may wait until next Friday/Monday and try to catch some deals online.

Will do but it likely won’t be here until after next week. They have a 20% early Black Friday ending today. Just have to sign up for email/text promotions.  I’m willing to bet that will be repeated/extended next week.

I can give you my experience with a player ii. I have no major gripes on that bag from a functional perspective. Well made, durable, and more than enough room for everything. I do walk a lot but usually with a push cart so additional weight hasn’t been an issue. The few rounds I did carry it still wasn’t an issue. It’s also quite sturdy on the cart when riding. Other carry bags I’ve had seemed to slink sideways over the course of a round. This one has stayed nice and upright. If you ride a lot I do recommend a cart strap protector. The cart strap abrasion was an early complaint for Vessel bags. I suppose that’s a weakness of synthetic leather so it’s something that would probably be an issue with any synthetic leather bag. My bag came with the protector but I’m not sure if that was part of the swag package when I got it or if Vessel is including them with all bags now.

Several have already griped about the water bottle pockets on the iii. The water bottle pocket on the player ii is integrated into the outside of the scorecard/glove pocket. It did hold my 18oz yeti but it wasn’t exactly snug. I wouldn’t trust it in there when riding. A good bump would launch it right out. I only throw it in there for transport too/from course and then find another location, usually in the basket of my pushcart, when on course.

Reason I’m hanging my player ii up is because it’s a custom bag with loud colors and draws too much attention for someone like me who enjoys blending into the background. I didn’t pay for that bag and, before having it, wouldn’t have paid so much for a golf bag.  But I really do enjoy the quality and functionality so decided to stick with Vessel. Just in a nice boring grey color this time.

If holding the yeti is that important the player ii is till available from Vessel. I considered getting it but the only option available is 14-way top in black. I do prefer 6-way and not a fan of black.

So my buddy has the Ghost anyday and i just picked up a vessel (player 3 and VLS Lux because 20% off). They feel very similar in material. Big differences i noticed are pocket layouts and 14-way divider size. The P3 has very tight slots for the 14-way if you're looking into that. The Ghost bag is very similar in slot size to the Sun Mountain 4.5, which is much roomier and avoids snagging.

The pocket layout imo is better on the ghost as well, but thats a personal preference.

I personally would choose the ghost bag between the two, but my only concern would be the long run since its a fairly new bag with minimal reviews. But overall i ended up going with the VLS Lux, because i realized i do not need that much space in a bag, and the VLS lux is just so nice overall. Ill be returning the p3.

Never thought about that, but I may buy one of each and get hands on them to evaluate. Then return whichever I like the least. I prefer the 14-way bags but definitely don’t want any club snag.

@CBearse I promised pics so here they are. Included one with my Yeti. It’s a tight fit. So tight I’d trust it on a cart but also so tight I’d get annoyed taking it in and out. The ‘score card’ pocket doesn’t fit my yardage book cover so it may end up being the drink holder. Honest first impression is I like 2.0 better. Maybe that’s because I’ve gotten used to the 2:0. 3.0 will likely still be a great bag and I much prefer to rock its subdued grey over the loudness of my 2.0 even if I’m less satisfied, at this point, with the functionality.

Anyone else have any reviews between the 2.

I'm seriously looking at the Ghost Anyday Maverick. Have always liked the look of Vessel (and now Ghost). Just not sure what the general consensus is with Ghost yet.

Im pretty much a fair weather golfer at this point in my life, so the lack of a full length pocket doesnt bother me if that's the biggest downfall.

Not sure about the Ghost bag, but I decided on the Vessell Player 3 stand bag and absolutely love it. Very clean look and performs flawlessly. Generally don’t walk all that much, but have walked a few rounds with it since I got it and it is very comfortable. No regrets thus far.

I have the Player III, and my playing partner has the Ghost.  They're almost identical in craftsmanship, etc.  Honestly, can't go wrong either way.  I know I'm not really adding much here, just wanted to chime in that the Ghost is really, really nice, and right on par with Vessel for quality.

That's good enough for me. lol.

Knowing that the Ghost is on par with Vessel quality wise is exactly what I was hoping to hear.

I'll probably end up with the Ghost...but honestly I think i'll be happy just getting away from the 10" staff bags
