JGNC short par 4 Notah Begay junior tournaments

The JGNC is a tour that focuses on local events that promotes the top X number of players to their regional event that then promotes X number of players to their nationally televised event.  The local events are open to anyone and with such you get all sorts of players. Regionals have a better group of players and then nationals are kids that have won through the series.

I don't need another junior golf tour in my life so they aren't even on my radar. They don't bring anything to the table that you can't get in your local PGA junior events.

There's definitely something more important that I should be doing.

Not sure I would say they don’t offer anything.   Most kids grow out the local pga junior events.  But some

people are scared to play kids in other states.

Junior Golf is changing a lot you have to look at the tour you play and figure out if  what they offer is worth it to you.

For notah begay it’s all about qualifying for  the final tournament.  It a big deal to win and the competition will be good if your playing the national tournament

It’s not the only game in town and there are reasons to focus on other stuff.   For me I am not excited about the location and date of the final tournament.  So it just not a high priority.

The nationally televised event is not a big deal whatsoever. Our friend skipped it even though he qualified to go back the next year.

what are talking about???  I am not a big fan but no reason to act like winning it isn’t a great memory for the winner and something to boast about.

It’s a national event with a lot of kids and overall competitive.   You act like that it like a local pga event.  Hate to break it you the local pga events run by your local section are usually the lowest events around.

Any one played or heard anything about this tournament? Are they AJGA or more like US Kids level type tournaments? Worth playing them? Any information would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

We played a local qualifier last year because it was held on the same course as the PGA Tour plays in Napa, CA.   JGNC is a new-ish tour (2 or 3 years old?).  Every tour has to start somewhere.  As you get to the Regionals and then then National Championship, the competition surely gets better.  Last year, my kid played age 10-11 and the yardage was around 5,200.  This year, age 12-13 yardage is around 5,800.

The Toyota Cup run by the southern Cal section is one of the best tours in the country.  After that is goes down hill.

I am GenX.  If you really think I care about what you have to say, I don't.

The first two years were a big deal.  After that has really gone downhill imo.  Biggest reason is a lack of marketing.  The other reason, at least in Florida, the Regional is played on such an unscoreable course.  Kids would rather not play this course because it damages JGS rankings other than a handful of kids in the field.  Mission Inn in Florida is awful.  My kid qualified there shooting even over the two days I think.  After the round he said "I am never playing there again unless I have to."  It just isn't a fun course.

I think it’s good depending what part of the country you are in. I’m in the south east there are plenty of quality high competitive tournaments. But it’s just one weekend out the year to qualify so if it fits the schedule we do it if not nothing major lost.

I imagine if we where somewhere that didn’t have several tours and a lot of competition this would be a bigger deal.

This has always been my issue with Notah.  The location is in southwestern Louisiana at a casino  and late in the fall this not a great location to play golf.   For that location this tournament should most likely be  held in late April - May  when the conditions I would think would be much better for that area of the country.

For me it just makes more sense to play a tournament in Florida that time of year.    I don't knock anyone who wants to play it and if they enjoy golf in that area of the county that time of year.

No one in Florida is giving up their course.  Gotta make more money "Growing The Game" on weekends charging rack rates.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
