Swinging left too much? (Driver swing update)

Might be a little bit if a gap, but it's better. I just built a sheftic board and will working on my recentering  and weight shift a bit more.

 

Still need to work on follow through and engrainging all the new stuff, but I hope I am on the right track at least.

Sheftic board is a good add.    Doing the band drill from the clip from todd casabella will help moving knees and pelvis better - you are still spinning.

Your follow through is the result of the downswing plane.  If all you did was try to swing more to the right, you would hit it off the heel, possibly the hosel.  Keep working on that same feel though and it will come, you're on the right track.

I have been hitting a lot of duck hooks lately. Had three of them on the course and it really has hampered my ability to score well. I was at the store today at took a few swings on Trackman. My club path was -1.0 and my face angle was -6. My face is closed to my path so hitting duck hooks makes sense. I think a -1 club path is playable, but playing with -6 face angle is not possible.

 

Any reasons why my face would be so open at impact and any tips to fix it? Feeling like I fan the face open in the backswing helps a little bit, but this could just be a bandaid fix. I am going to the driving range tomorrow to get a new set of videos.

I am actively trying to exaggerate the rolling of the left forearm. In my old swing my clubface was hooded during the takeaway which I did not like.

 

I went to the range today, and I have reverted back to left tilting early in the backswing. My swing felt great, and I thought I was exaggerating the feels I wanted, but the camera doesnt lie. Golf is strange. Feel is definitely not reel. 

 

I will be going back to the range tomorrow and will film more and post here. Irons are looking great, but the driver looks terrible.

Teachers teach it a lot and people can get away with it if they have perfect or near perfect timing but rolling the forearm and cocking the hands up takes the shaft and clubface off the plane the ball is on. 

 

If you can get the shaft and clubface on the proper plane at the top zeroed in on the ball you won't have to flip it to make contact plus you can hit the ball a lot harder if you aren't tapping on the brakes in the downswing in an effort to get the face squared.

Newest swings from today. Working on getting right hip higher in backswing and stopping the over rotation and spinning of my hips. Trying to close the gap between my belt buckle and right hip as a feel. Also using the feeling of pulling a stick out if the ground to start the backswing.

 

Mostly working on this as it will improve my downswing. Keeping my hips and shoulders closed longer In downswing is my only thought.

More swings from today. Hip turn getting better imo. Shoulders open a little early in downswing causing a little steepness, not bad though. Maybe need more shoulder turn in backswing.

 

Overall, small improvements every day hopefully will add up when the weather gets nicer.

Thought I would tape my driver as I haven't been hitting it as good as I would like.

 

It looks better than I thought, but I think I shift off the ball too much and dont recenter enough. Too much pressure on my left toe in the backswing maybe? I hang back a little in downswing, but overall I'm pretty happy with my progress.

 

Primarily focusing on my weight shift in backswing and keeping shoulders closed longer in downswing as I tend to open my shoulders early
