Endo forged Hogan Edge?

I picked up this set of 4-E of Hogan Edge Forged for 30 bucks last year when I knew nothing about Hogan irons. Since then I've done some internet reading on them and hogan irons in general and came across a few comments saying that some of these were forged in Endo, and that the indicator for such is a little black dimple set in the back of the hosel as shown in my 2nd picture below.

 

My question to the Hogan experts here is if that is true or not. I know that Hogan was bought by a Japanese company around the time the Edge launched and that it was quite a popular seller for the struggling brand. It would make sense that to fill all the orders expanded production would be needed but ive gotten no clear confirmation. I've read that later model hogans like 99 apex are endo forged but just wondering about these slightly earlier irons.

I've got an Edge Equalizer and a few odd Edge GS irons that have the same dimple.

also interesting, I noticed that dot on a set of GS irons I gifted to my GrandSon last Yule and two sets of Edge forged irons I have now....hope one of the Hogan knowledgeable people might know

My initial thought was that it might be a shaft pin but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I'm not too sure just how to describe how to describe....it's a deep imprint w/black coloring as shown

These irons felt amazing. Ball seemed to latch onto the face and gave maximum control.

Early Edges were manufactured in Japan because there were no manufacturers in the US at the time that had the capability or experience forging cavity back irons.

Soooo....is that a "yes" to Endo, or just a possibility?

It's a yes. The heads were definitely made in Japan.

my failure to control internet browsing was once again realized and a set of Edge GS irons is on the way.

Haha I am now looking at trying to pick up the 1, 2, and 3 irons so I guess the feeling is mutual 😆 my top strategy is to let the Mrs get something she wants, that usually gets me off the hook lol

Oh if it was that easy. That strategy for the most part does not work with me.
