I want to move to Portugal or Spain in the winter to play golf and not freeze, any recommendations/tips or info about seasonal memberships?

I'm trying to research the best way to do this. I can't buy a condo or a resort property or anything like that so don't suggest it. But I don't want to do a few day stay and play. I'm looking to rent a house or apartment for the autumn/winter this year in a warmer climate like southern Spain or Portugal. I'd like to play golf while I'm at it, but I can't afford to pay constant green fees and range fees. I'd like to play nearly every day so finding something with a seasonal membership or some sort of program would be ideal. 

Has anyone done this or know of a good resort location to suggest? I know there are a TON of courses in the area but I think it might be too expensive to just travel around and pay for all the greens fees.

I’ll be going to Portugal in October for a week long golf trip, but also will be scouting for the same options you are looking at. I’ll have to go back and do some research, but I remember a resort in Southern Spain that had a package for monthly specials for Condo, unlimited golf and practice range, and I think breakfast every day as well. It was a really nice course right on the coast and had a great practice area. I’ll get back to you if I find it.

I can’t find the original post, but I did find the golf course. There are a few guys on here that spend the winter there. I don’t remember the actual price,  but I do remember it was very reasonable. Maybe one of those guys will see your post.

I did find some decent places on AirBNB but I still can't find much about the actual golf memberships. Seems like either you join a club and get discounted rates or some places want you to pay for an entire year. Which wouldn't be that bad if it's reasonable as I might just stay longer, but I'm not sure yet.

Let me know if you stumble across anything nice when you visit. I just want to be able to play year round and have decent weather, Im not entirely attached to a location.

A few years I was visiting Lisbon and played a round at Oitavos Dunes. They paired me with a Swede who said he lived there in Cascais permanently and only returned to Lund for Christmas. It’s a great course so I imagine it would be a pretty good place to live. Lisbon only 20km away. Plenty of other solid courses to play in the region as well.

some of my friends from a german golf forum spend their winter times at the Canary Islands and on the mainland Almeria and Murcia Area. Condos or Duplex close to a golf courses and winter-time membership are offered there. Spain is a huge empty country especially in winter time.

 

The Canaries are different, a lot of Europenas spend their winter at this Islands because of the spring like weather conditions. So the cost for living and apts are higher.
