High handicapper, I know I can get more out of this swing, any thoughts appreciated

Sequencing is off.

Arms lead the swing, lots of arm lift, hips moving incorrectly in the backswing.

firing the right hip, over the top move

All this leads to early extension and casting. If you didn’t do either of those moves (these aren’t faults) you wouldn’t hit the ball

Thanks for your insight. What exactly are you referring to with the hips in the backswing?

I thought right hip was supposed to go toward ball 🤷🏼‍♂️

Not immediately. The hips move in the opposite direction during the transition/downswing.

The right hip maintains and even gains a little more depth in transition then the left moves back

You almost never want this feeling for a variety of reasons. Right hip towards the ball immediately encourages a steeper, over the top path and at no point in the golf swing should we really be feeling any part of our bodies actively move towards the ball (maybe hands, but that is a debatable "feel"). Aside from that, this is another larger issue:

This would be a pretty decent general place to stop your backswing. You're on plane, square, and have decent wrist conditions (flat left wrist, slightly extended right wrist). However...

This is a pretty classic "high handicapper" move. You overhinge and get the clubhead across the line and way behind you while losing your right wrist extension. This is a weak position that requires saving in the first part of your transition into the downswing (which we see via a strong cast move that throws away your lag immediately), and the lack of right wrist extension often leads to an over the top trajectory, which we also see. Combine those two things together and you get this:

The clubface is wide open and milliseconds away from colliding directly in the hosel (compare to Morikawa above). I've linked two resources below for some direction on how you want to set the club at the top of the swing and a general primer on fundamentally correct lower body action.

Thank you! Funny thing is, I know that I do that stuff(overhinge) but my mind and body haven’t figured out how to fix it yet 😂 especially the correct hip action. The club head position is also very enlightening for me. I’ll check out those resources, I’m sure they will help!
