Dr Kwon Rope Drill

Ladies and Gents,

 

has anyone swung the rope and the fold of the rope really hits the Aereola (however you spell it) I really want to do this drill but every time it hurtssss

Likely swinging the arm too much independent of the body.

 

this guy had trouble using his arms too much and at the  25 minute mark dr kwon swings the rope with his hands pinned to his chest and then at 40 minute mark he starts by swinging while standing up and then lowering - he starts to get using his body to throw the arms and thus the rope.

 

helps to relax the arms - not wet noodle relaxed but especially the elbows.   Might even put down the rope and use your shurn to throw the arms too.  Dr kwon has him doing this around the 12 minute mark or so.

 

a lot of good stuff in this video and worth a watch for learning more about the shift/ turn motion too.

Any idea on the rope dia. or weight, this looks like it would be a great drill. simpler version of the lagshot that would be safe indoors or just about anywhere. Thanks for sharing

3/4 inch double braided nylon   Between 6-7 foot. Can google dr kwon rope and find at least two companies that supply it.  Blue ox or rightrope.

Just took a lesson and the instructor suggested doing this drill along with working on pressure shift drills. 
both showed how much power/speed I was wasting
