Why the ______ is only one brand making a mini driver?

A couple of guys i play with talk about getting them, as they struggle with driver, but the cost is a bit much for what it is, reality is it won't help them, they suffer low snap hooks as a bad shot with a 3 wood, so the mini would just make it worse.

 

Personally i just don't need one in the bag, on my home course i use driver and 3/5 wood a similar amount of times off the tee due to the nature of the course, so playing up to hazards with the woods, or using driver on holes that are clear enough down the middle, it would just add something that fits between them, could i use one, probably, but again, cost is just too high for a club that's not going to be used much, a bit like a lob wedge, you might only use it once a round, or even once a couple of rounds, but they're not hugely expensive and last for ages.

 

As everyone's said though, it is such a niche market, you rule out those who like driver, those who have swing faults that would be more of an issue with a mini than a 3 wood, and then add the price in and you've got a very low number of people interested.

I'm amazed what the Taylormade brnr is selling for on eBay. $550 for a new one. Even a used one can go for over $500. Seems crazy that They made so few of them.
