Titleist Stadry (2023 Players 4 vs 2021 Players 4+)

I was looking for this information prior to my purchase but didn't find exactly what I was looking for so here it is.

I wanted a compact waterproof Stand bag. Was interested in both 2023 Players 4 and 2021 Players 4 Plus (not available in 2023 model) but was concerned the Players 4 would be too small. Spent a couple hours loading and unloading the pockets, taking clubs in and out, etc.

The Plus has a little more room for clubs but its pretty minor. I fully loaded the pockets to try and maximize any encroachment into the lower club space and removed and clubs and put them back. Picked the bag up and put it back down and did it again, trying to induce grabbing. I was using 14 clubs plus 2 alignment sticks. Neither bag grabbed an unreasonable amount. Coming from a larger cart bag they both grabbed less then I expected. I have midsized grips. And my putter has a large grip (evnroll gravity).

The pockets on either side of the bag are slightly larger on the Plus. But with the zipper on the face of the pocket (2021) rather then the edge (2023) I found the amount of stuff I could cram in there and close it to be very similar. The Plus has a zipper on the backside of the apparel pocket that can be released to give a little more space. The main "ball" pocket is noticeably bigger on the Plus. I would say 20-30% bigger. The tee pockets were similar size. The Plus has 2 water bottle holders. The water bottle holders on both bags are big enough to hold my 20oz hydroflask with no problem. The Plus also has a magnetic pocket near the bottom for your range finder. I found this to be challenging to use when the apparel pocket was nearly empty and completely unusable if the apparel pocket was full. In the apparel pocket of both bags I able to put rain pants, rain jacket, vest, two bucket hats and a stocking cap.

Zippers on the Players 4 (being the 2023 model) are significantly easier to use. They have a rigid pull rather then a flexible loop. This was particularly noticeable on the tee pocket. It was a two hand operation to close on the Plus.

All total I preferred the Players 4. If they had a 2023 Players 5 Stadry (they do, but only EU) that would have been a tougher decision. Then you would have had the new zipper locations and zipper pulls with the bigger pockets and bigger top cuff.

You can get the Players 5 Stadry from Function 18. It is in the UK, but they deliver to the US. I have purchased a lot of stuff from them over the years. It was one of the first places I could find Galvin Green waterproof jackets. In fact, I just ordered a Players 5 Stadry bag from them today. I was in the same boat as you and just happened to check their website. Should be here in a week and a half.
