Odyssey Weight - Old Models

Hi Guys,

 

I've been recently been using my old Rossie II putter with success.  The head weighs 323 grams.  I would like to know what Rossie II heads in the Odyssey chronology are in the 340-345 gram range.  I would like to try something a little heavier but not quite 355 like the modern offers.  Would you kindly advise?

Some Odyssey models were in that range if you went with the 35" version. White Ice I believe was one of them. The Protypes (not insert) were the same way. Maybe look for one of those and if needed cut down and adjust.

FYI The White Ice Rossie states 340g on the head.

Black series Tour Design was 330,340,350 based on shaft length. Carbon Milled. I got a 350 1W back when they were released and just recently re-shafted with a black ION and cut it to 35". Many have come and gone but this one keeps making it's way back into the bag.

FYI The White Ice Rossie states 340g on the head.

That information comes from a post I dug up on here.  I believe 323 to be accurate.

Thanks.  How soft is that insert?  It’s marketed as softer than white hot and I’m not sure that’s a good thing for me.

I haven't tested the insert. I know PGATSS, and probably other retailers, still carry a bunch of DFX models on the floor - so you can probably test them out if u wanted

DFX should feel firmer and have more click to it than White Hot.

Do you know what the original Rossie I weighed?  I’m thinking a couple grams more than the Rossie II but not much more.

I do not know the answer to your question (s) about newer Rossie putters. However I do believe it is probable that the 323 gram head (or at least less than 330 grams) is a major contributing factor to your putting success.

I believe you are correct.  Plus the fact that I played that model years ago.  The original lightweight grip helps also.  While there is a place for heavier putters I do not believe they’re for everyone.

I believe the following insert lines all have Rossie models in that weight range (granted the inserts will all be softer than the DF/DFX):

So I obtained a Rossie dual force I to go along with my Rossie dual force II.  Interestingly the II total weight is 506g, while the I is 488g.  Both are the same length and grip.  I would have thought the bigger head would be heavier but that’s not the case.  Anyone else notice this or know the head weight for the I?
