Cape May Golf options

Parents recently got a place in Cape May, Nj. Figure I will be spending a lot of time there this summer. What do the public golf options look like? Any recommendations/favorites in the area? I have no problem driving 30-40mins away to play a decent track either. Thanks!

Union League is a popular choice for private. Shoregate good on the public side.

+1 for Shoregate. Cape May National is a great layout but last few times I played it, it was just in okay shape. Not sure how it's looking these days. If you head up toward Egg Harbor, Twisted Dunes and Ballamore are decent tracks

Thanks for the recs. Cape May national seems pretty close so I’ll try to start there. Is it possible to get on at Union League? If not, I’m going to get a time at Shoregate for the weekend

Go 45 minutes north and play Ballamor.

Let us know how Cape May National is. I'm headed that way in September and I hope they've polished it up a bit. Last time I was there the range and the lunch counter were closed and the course needed some TLC on the tee boxes and around the common areas. Crab grass and weeds were winning the battle.

I believe Union League would be a tough get unless someone you know can make a phone call. That used be a decent public 27 hole track called Sand Barrons and the UL bought it a couple years back.

Atlantic City CC, its about 30min away.

 

Ranked either #1or2 best public course in NJ, other is Ballyowen.

No doubt Atlantic City CC is great but it went private a year or two ago. Too bad, that was my favorite. 

 

A little further north on the GSP is Sea View golf in Galloway NJ. It has 2 courses that are nice but the Bay course is the better of the 2. The LPGA plays there every year.

Shoregate is great. Ballamoor and Twisted Dune are also excellent. Sea View has 2 good courses.

Had a good time at Cape May national. Not really my favorite type of course in terms of layout, but it was in good shape and the greens were smooth. I would definitely play there again. Saw the cart girl a bunch and pace of play was decent. All I solid for a vacation course. 
 

I’m going to check out Ballamor next as that was recommended by the group I was paired with at Cape May. Thanks everyone for the recommendations. Will be up this way for most of the summer helping my parents as my job is remote, so I’ll have time to check all of these courses out.

Love Ballamor. I'm also partial as that was the site on my only hole in one and I love seeing myself on the board there LOL

Curious of comparing McColloughs to Twisted Dune. Will be in area with my brother in about a week. Playing Ballamor a week from today. I played McColloughs last summer and liked it but haven’t played Twisted Dune.

Ballamor twisted. If going private Galloway or national. Accc is very very overrated don’t bother

Played Ballamor today. Was in fantastic shape! Had a great time and course was fun. Was surprised how wide open tee shots offer were for the most part.

Played Twisted Dune today. Interesting course and generally liked it but prefer Ballamor by a lot. Not only is Ballamor in fantastic condition, but rocks in bunkers and greens that are not the smoothest at twisted dune were significant negatives.

Shoregate was good a couple years ago. Interesting layout
