Playing mostly draws as a kid -- transitioning to fades as old man

Anybody else trying to move to a fade flight from a draw flight..

When I was a kid we all tried to hit huge draws to get more yards, but with todays drivers and balls I see way more pros/+ handicaps waxing poetic about hitting a fade..

Anybody else thinking about making a switch to a different ball flight ? Is it tough to do, or is the ease with which a fade is to hit (relative to a draw) is it just more natural?

I'm a cross dominant stroke survivor.  I've discovered that my screwed up neurology allows me to switch to a draw by switching to left hand dominance.

Given a choice, most defer to right hand dominance because our world is set up to favor that.

I have an extremely consistent slice, if I ever need to do that. 🙃

The fade works better on a short course with narrow fairways and tiny greens.

But, they changed the course this year by closely cutting the grass in front of the greens to allow more bump and runs.

So, a draw that rolls up the green is better than a fade that doesn't reach the green.

The guys on tour who hit fades, especially with irons tend to use a great pivot and body rotation to pull the path left. It’s not easy to go from a goat humping drawer of the ball to hitting fades with a pure pivot. Many ams hit fades with some inefficient body movements by kicking the club way outside their hands. These tend to be mid and higher handicaps for a reason.

Fades flights are  associated with fat bellies and the players with flat tummies seem to be capable of drawing the golf ball very well

Um.........no.  Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland are on the skinny side and hit fades all day long.  John Daly when he was younger had a belly(still does) and his stock shot was a draw if I remember correctly.  Body type doesn't have much of anything to do with swing path and face angle.

My stock shot is a draw and I tried to change to a fade with the help of a teaching pro 2 years ago.  It really messed my swing up and I gave up on it.  I would love to hit a fade, especially with driver but my muscle memory is so used to swinging in to out.  It's when my swing is really off that the draw turns into a bad hook which is what drives me crazy at times.  Because of this, I make a concerted effort to make sure my swing path doesn't get too extreme.  I play my best golf when I'm 2-4* in to out.

Hit the ball higher and a fade is almost a given.

I swung out from underneath myself, from the lower part of my body.   Byron Nelson

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
