Labor Day Garage Sale Find. Stevenson Golf putter.

Not sure what I found today at a Garage Sale, but I know which putter I am gaming next time I hit the links.

I really don't know anything about a Stevenson Golf putter but I do recognize a VMG (vertical milled grove) putter face when I see it.

To me it looks like Dave Billings Machine Golf putter face because I have had a few.

Anyone know anything about this beautifully milled stainless steel putter? Possible Prototype, #00/50?

OK I am getting close to finding out about this putter. And I almost can't believe what I have found.

The pictures are pictures I found online and taken on my laptop. They come from a Blog, Dave Billings posted.

Dav Billings Golf Locker. He talks about meeting Tiger Woods in the mid 1990's and again in 2005 when he was #1 in the world. And what happened to his business just prior to starting up Machine.
Wow. You have to google this blog if you at all like Machine putters or golf history.

I don't know Billings connection to Stevenson Golf yet. Licensing deal? The shop he milled out of in Texas, or may be its the Little Company A he talks about in his story about the Bud / TW deal gone south?

Note the TW engraved outer heel and D. Billings stamped in the cavity.

I'm afraid to take this to the course for fear that it could be worth a ton of money. On the other hand it could be an average Machine putter. I do know it putts beautifully in the basement

Came close to purchasing one of these putters a decade or so ago when I was collecting machine putters. Every once in a while they pop up on eBay, or in a BST, with a different serial.

Memory may be foggy, but here’s what I remember from Forum and blog conversations.

Dave Billing’s, of Machine/Hog putter fame, was contracted to produce putters for a golf business that never got off the ground (Stevenson Golf).

Heads were CNC milled, carbon plated, necks were aluminum. Featured Machine’s VMG face, weight port low to alter CG (could include a weight cartridge) and create overspin.

Hope she rolls the ball beautifully.

I hate to burst your bubble, but I highly doubt it is worth more than a few hundred bucks max. I would take it out to the course and enjoy it. No sense in keeping it locked in the basement.

You are probably right.
