WRX Insights on my next LM: Skytrak+, Uneekor Eye Mini, Bushnell Launch Pro

Recommended Posts

We moved a couple of years back and I've not been using my original SkyTrak, which was just sold on the BST. Sadly, the space I have doesn't allow me to swing driver because of space.  While I can easily hit mid irons and wedges, it feels like a waste. I'm looking for something I can use reliably both indoor and outdoor. I was leaning toward SkyTrak+ as I've loved my original!

That said, I'm curious to hear if anyone has strong opinions on Bushnell's Launch Pro, or Uneekor's Eye Mini.

It may sound silly, but I'd prefer to not use tracking dots! Thought I'm not sure that's an option.

Would love to hear any real-world insights the community can share!

Here are my thoughts from the EyeMini thread:

I have an original Skytrak and for past couple months been thinking about upgrading to something that provided more data points as I continue to tinker with my swing and club set up. Primary use will still be inside in my garage, with some sim golf so camera based system would work best for my needs, BLP was a front runner, but was also looking at Skytrak+ as my Skytrak has been a great device. I always liked the Uneekor QED and EyeXO but my garage set up makes an overhead unit set up tough so hadn't really considered Uneekor as an option until I saw the EyeMini.

After many hours of back and forth on the Bushnell and Uneekor website, watching youtube, decided to take the plunge and ordered EyeMini. Overall think the BLP is a great unit, and had the EyeMini not had some of the functionality mentioned below, would have been happy with the BLP. Why I chose the EyeMini over BLP

  • Camera that shows video of Impact. My daughter is starting to get into golf and thought this feature will be useful to help her understand how the club is coming through to hit the ball at impact. Also useful to me as I make adjustments.
  • Official support for GSPro. I know that Foresight/GSPro are working on official integration, but don't know when that will happen and how that will affect the cost of the yearly subscription tiers.
  • All Data Points unlocked with purchase without some hidden behind a subscription.

With Uneekor selling these for $3500, I think it is a no brainer. Plus with Foresight emailing on 10/5/23 about upcoming integrations and requirements to get the 3rd party connector, sounds like the BLP will be more expensive to connect to GSPro if that's important to you.

Lastly regarding the dots, like you wasn't a fan of this but it hasn't been a big deal. Applied the stickers to my clubs once and have not had any fall off with multiple rounds/cleanings.

As a OG skytrak user who was ready to upgrade I can say I wasn't impressed by the ST+ ... now I've no experience with it, but to get to the $3k price point and still have to use the laser dot, deal with a shot delay, and no real innovation on the part of the photometric technology that is now 10 years old (though proven I will give you) I chose to go with the Eye Mini and my reasoning is literally bullet for bullet with what @speedmaster11 said above except I have 3 sons instead of a daughter!

I will also add the view software with easy swing camera integration, at least once I realized there are some good inexpensive options that aren't the $1400 swing optix ones, is a home run...now I can easily send swing video's to my son's coach and just pay his virtual lesson fee for 30 minutes instead of driving 2 hours and paying a full 1 hour in person lesson fee!

@speedmaster11 and @MD_ sincerely appreciate the detailed feedback! It's great to hear.

It's tough for me to gauge as I've only ever used my SkyTrak and a Trackman here or there at other facilities - but none of the other consumer options. If only there was a showroom to test them all!

I'm intrigued as Skytrak is running a sale at the moment that brings the price down pretty dramatically ($300). So I'm still compelled as I feel like I know what I'm getting in addition to outdoor usability.

One of things another WRX user shared was the post-purchase software costs associated with Bushnell. Any insights on how Eye Mini stacks up in that category? Can Uneekor be used with regular range balls, or do the 3-dot balls I've seen required? Noted on the dots, which aren't a deal breaker, just a bit less than ideal...

Well Uneekor sale is also going on, taking it from $4500 msrp down to $3500 and in another thread I read (cannot confirm) that if you signup to the email list on Uneekor website you can get another 200 off (which would make me jealous since I paid 3500!).

the Uneekor unit is fully unlocked, with no subscription required to use it and access all the data...unlike BLP which hides club data behind a paywall. I do understand that at least for NOW you can still get around any subscription to use GSPro but I think its been widely speculated that is very soon coming to an end and there is a lot of uncertainty how "official" GSPro integration is going to affect their subscription levels/costs.

With the eye mini you can have the driving range, all the club and ball data, ball optix view and easy integration of swing camera's all for free forever...its $199/yr if you want to add 3rd party integration for GSPro and there are some other levels if you want their Refine+ sim software/ranges or more storage / users for view.

Going through the same internal conflict between the three units myself. Basement sim use only and primarily for practice (not too concerned with sim integration). After reading this thread, leaning towards the eye mini. I do have a question about iPad compatibility. Can I connect to the mini and at the same time streaming the iPad screen using airplay to a projector?

Just a guess, but at least with Skytrak, I had to have my iPad hardwire to my TV in the hitting area in order to get it out to a larger display!

But would love to hear from those who are running the Mini!

I hear you about gauging without the ability to test, I made a leap with the EyeMini and it worked out. Uneekor is based out of Irvine, not sure if they offer the ability to test at their location.

To add what @MD_ said, with the BLP most people were running the BLP as a subscription (from what I read) and then adding the Basic package to leverage GSPro. Foresight sent out a pretty vague email on 10/5/23 and sounds like user will need to have an active FSX account to get integration, which would require a much higher subscription package, more details to come.

Uneekor has official support and it's the $199 a year plus GSPro cost, so $450 a year. The $199 is the Pro Package and the "entry level" package, Uneekor also offers the Champions package for $400/yr which includes 5 courses from Korea and a few different skill challenges modules, but GSPro offers something similiar plus the ability play hundreds of other courses, and feels more realistic from a UI/graphics standpoint.

The eye mini can be used with any ball...white is always best...no dots needed nor any need for RCT balls like trackman, mevo+, and other radar units.

I think its the Uneekor QED that requires stickers but I'm not sure as I've only just acquired my mini

Just opened up my new/used QED and it does have club stickers that make the club data more accurate. Also, special balls which would be a turn off to many but for me it wasn't a deal breaker.

The view air app on the iPad has worked pretty well for me so far, as I'm waiting on a new gaming laptop before I migrate my GSPro over from the skytrak and get the launcher/view setup on PC. I use my iPad with the projector but via a hdmi dongle to hard wire it so I can't speak to airplay compatibility...

After some initial trial and error I was eventually able to get my mini onto my home wifi network, and then the iPad connected to the mini via network connection (Hello Uneekor...some actual directions on how to do this might be nice for people who aren't as tech savy!) so I don't see any reason why it wouldn't stream over airplay in this case.
