Superstroke 3.0 xl grip not installed right/ not even down shaft

Quick question for the Superstroke 3.0 XL grip(the longer ones/13inch or so). Threw one on my blade putter. Guy threw it on at golf town. Noticed getting home that the grip is not the same diameter down the shaft. Measured it and it’s a quarter of an inch thinker on the bottom half of the grip. So strange. Did the guy put it on wrong? Or is it because of the shaft itself. Not sure why that would

be. I have seen them before on a putter and it’s even all the way down. Has anyone seen anything like this. Thanks

Just curious what type of putter it is and I assume it is the stock shaft? I've seen it before with some of the smaller Tour 1.0 where it is basically a reverse taper, which sounds like what you are describing. Hard to say it was installed wrong unless he added extra wraps of tape at the bottom of the grip, which is possible if the shaft diameter got too small near the bottom and he had to build it up to get a snug fit. But yes, ideally it would be the same size all the way down. 

 

I usually have to add some extra wraps to Odyssey putters for longer grips because the shaft diameter gets really small and can cause the grip to be too loose and twist.

Yes it is the stock shaft I believe. Long story short any way to fix it? Feels so strange in my hands. Not sure if I could get over it being so off. Just curious if he added more tape or that’s just how it is with the shaft? Thanks

Shafts taper down maybe extra tape or tape got snagged and is sitting there, but just an assumption. 

 

Gotta rip of off and try again.

Yeah, only way to tell is to take it back to who regripped it, ask if they did anything funky during the install and see if there is anything they can to to help. They might be able to pull it and reinstall but hard to say what they'd be willing to do to fix it.

These longer grips get farther down the shaft  taper and the bottom of the grip can stay loose if not installed properly. The shaft should have been measured to determine where or if extra tape is needed. 

 

Sounds like the installer just put extra tape on to avoid being loose and obviously over did it. Too bad for that guy because SS grips are a pain to pull.
