Re-shafting question.

Hello. Many thanks for accepting me into the forum.
 

I’m wondering if I may pull on the communities expertise? 
 

I used to own some Ping ISI-K’s fitted with standard length JZ-S shafts with Cushin inserts which I found really good. 
 

I’ve recently bought some really nice Zing 2’s which have terrible shafts and I’ve identified TT DG S300 tapers as a suitable alternative but I’m wondering how much to butt trim so they match the length of my old regular JZ-S shafts that I was used to on my old ISI-K’s. 
 

I can’t find any info. On shaft length for the JZ’s. 
 

as a newbie to re-shafting where do I measure from on the club head before trimming?

 

also, I’d like to find a suitable alternative to the Cushin inserts for the new shafts so would really appreciate any assistance in this area too please.

Ping iron insertion depth is usually 1.25”.

 

There are several ways to measure club length. Without a measurement tool, there is typically variation. The easiest and cheapest way to ensure the correct length (if you’re only going to build one set) is to have have GolfWorks or similar source cut them for you.

@Jeff58 thank you. I did look at the prosoft inserts and they might be the way forward. I’m in the UK and also trying to keep costs down as low as possible so would want to double the work myself. If only I knew what the standard JZ shaft length was.

You know what the standard club length is for a 7 iron. You know what the insertion length is for Ping irons. All you need to do is get the heads, measure the distance from the ground to the top of the hosel, subtract the insertion distance, and add about 1/4” for the grip. Not that difficult.

I don’t know what the standard length is though! Is ‘standard’ shaft length the same for all shaft manufacturers? I think the DG S300 shafts are all different across the numbers.
