What's your golf league format?

Looking for a new format for our league this year.  We've always done 2-man teams, but as the league has gotten older, feels like we have a lot of absences, which isn't great.

 

Anyone have a format that's more week to week as far as payouts, etc?

If payouts are week to week, then stableford (regular or modified) or quota is your jam. 

 

I think I mentioned this in the other thread, but one league I help run with 72 players is straight up match play, 9 teams of 8 with 2 players split in A, B, C, D flights. VERY organized work group. Schedule is released beginning of year, and that's it. Everyone knows the teams and times. You can't make it? Find someone to play, or find a sub. I wrote a website to handle sub list, scoring, handicapping, etc... all automated. We have a waiting list to get in, and subs that play more go to the front of the line when we need new players the following year (or during the year) so people can see who needs subs and sign up for the spots. 

I run a Friday league at my local 9 hole course also... Modified stableford. Run on a spreadsheet. If you play, you play, if you don't makeup are allowed within 3 weeks, and must be played with another member. Max makeups allowed are 1 for every 4 rounds played on Friday, to prevent people only playing when they feel like it/convenient.  Where straight up stableford (most of the time, it's Net)  is 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,  we do: double bogey = 0 points, bogey = 1, par = 2, birdie = 5, eagle = 8, albatross = 12, hole in one 18. We also go negative, 3 over par - 1. 4 over par -2, Any hole where you get double par, -3 and pick your ball up when you reach that. Lastly, we add in your handicap at the end as points (which is tracked by only in league play/rounds, not GHIN... do you can't tank your other rounds and come here to a 110 slope course and clean up). Points accumulate through the year 24-25 weeks, and to qualify for the trophy, you have to have at least 20 rounds. (With dropping lowest point rounds once you hit 20+, so you have the capability to drop your worst 4-5 rounds. Trophy goes to most points, 20 weeks. Then we also have payouts for those that had their best 15 rounds, 10 rounds. (Podium+)

 

Lastly, I also run a winter league that runs all winter, and that's just net stableford. Easiest of them all, no thinking, paid out every week. Weekly post round payouts are, top 5 net stableford, gross skins, net skins, CTP, etc... everyone throws in $30 at the beginning to play. $10 to gross skins, $10 to net stableford, $5 net skins, $5 ctp. 

 

Lost of fun, keeps me occupied outside of work.
