KBS Tour 110R versus KBS TGI 80S

Hi all - I recently was fit for PXG 0311P Gen 6 irons with KBS Tour 110R shafts. (7i SS = 78-80 mph). I am thinking of ordering Black Ops hybrids 22° and 19° with KBS TGI 80S shafts. Does anybody have any insight on how they compare? Didn’t wanna pay the $200 upcharge for the KBS Tour Hybrid Prototype…but still wanted to retain similar feel.

I have a set of KBS TGI 80s in storage. They are fine shafts for the right tempo. Though my SS is +/- 85, my tempo is faster than average, thus better with a higher/grip bend profile.

The difference between Hybrid Prototype and TGI 80S will be in the butt and tip sections and feel. Hybrid shafts are a bit more flexible in the tip section, to get the ball up, and longer playing length, vs, a comparable long iron shaft tip section which tends lower.

That makes sense. @Pepperturbo would you say that the TGI at 80S in a hybrid would play similar to a Tour 110R in the irons or would you have gone with Hybrid Proto shaft? Obviously everybody is different but I appreciate the help

No. The hybrid shaft profile is different from iron shaft profile. Which is better all depends on how effective you are with long irons. If the reason you carry hybrids it's difficult elevating the ball with a standard long iron, then there's your answer. I would prefer the Proto Shaft over TGI 80s shafts.

The 2022 17' T200 2 iron has a Tensei AV Raw White Hybrid 90 "S" in it, the 2023 T200 2 iron in my bag has a Tensei AV White Am2 90g "S“. Both are the same weight, same SW, and playing length of 39.75". Compared, the T200 with hybrid shaft has a slightly different bend profile and higher trajectory, except it's not as stout as the 2023 2 iron shaft in the bag. Because I can elevate both, I prefer the latter to the former.
