Ping G430 2 Hybrid to Low

Has any one whose played the G430 2 hybrid or any of the others lofts had issues getting it airborne? I have tried one with both the ahina and hzrdus red and neither really want to get in the air. I play a hzrdus black in stealth plus 3 wood and PX 6.5 in my irons and have no issues getting those airborne so it's throwing me that I'm having so much trouble with the hybrid. 

 

I like the head shape as I was looking for a larger headed hybrid so I don't really want to move off it, but not sure what to do. I got it to replace a fairway wood so considering trying a fairway wood shaft.

These hybrids are hot enough that unless you are looking for a 3 wood replacement, I would just pick up a 3H 19.0 or even a 4H 22.0 and loft them up if needed. I played a 19.0 with a Ventus Black 10TX and had no issues with launch

What is your current set make up? Avg. 7 iron carry distance? Typical ball flight (low/mid/high)? 

Ping has tools that are designed to assist with suggested set make ups based on certain criteria of the player.  

I've done a lot of fittings for PING and the 2 hybrid can be a struggle for a lot of players to get airborne.  Don't see it gapped into a lot of players bags.  It has its place for sure, but it may POTENTIALLY just be the wrong loft or club selection all together for your setup.

This head is notably low spin and 2 hybrid in general is tough to elevate. Just need more or different head. Shaft gonna make a pretty small difference.

I used to like hitting a low-lofted hybrid until I realized the benefits were almost none. I only see it as applicable for a player who absolutely despises Fairway Woods and needs a smaller head they can nuke. In this case, the Apex UW 17* is probably a better move.

I have one that I have slotted as more of a 3w replacement. I shafted it with HZRDUS blue 6.0 lofted it 15.5* and it fit the bill perfectly. I can elevate it pretty well, but I still have my 17* P790 UDI for bullets off the tee.

That's the goal. Dropping my 3 wood for it because I can't hit the 3 wood off the ground with any consistency.

 

Swing speed is 115. My 3 driving iron is a 718 tmb with a px 6.5 that I can hit as high as I want. The only other thing I can think of is a length issue. I play my irons +1. I'm wondering because the club isn't over length if I'm coming to steep into the ball. It still carries 255-260 but just not in the window I want.

Out of curiosity what length irons do you play vs your hybrid length? I play +1 so I'm wondering if I'm coming at the ball to steep since the hybrid is standard.

I play standard irons, but I built the hybrid +1 to really fill the gap between 2iron and 3W.

I have the Ping G430 2 hybrid that will sometimes go in the slot of my 3 wood. It comes off a bit low, but thats kind of why I bought it. I wanted an easy to hit, knuckle ball for tight holes and for one specific course that I will play sometimes (it has multiple par 5's where I need something to run up and the 2 hybrid is easier than my 3 woods)

As others said it depends where it is in your bag/setup. I previously played G425 driver > G425 3 wood > G425 3 hybrid > 4i-PW...but the G430's are hot. I got a G430 3H that I ended up selling because it was too close to my 3W. Seems like quite a few Ping Pros are playing 4 Hybrids instead of 3's this year probably for that reason..Maybe try lofting up the 2H or a 3H/4H as recommended above

 

I went in a different direction this year going Driver > 3W > 7W > 5H > 5i-PW..after playing around with a few different configurations and using some of the Ping fitting tools on ping co-pilot..there's a tool on their that helps determine appropriate gapping based on 7i #'s. For me it recommended to go 3W > 7W (Could swap 4H for slightly different gapping) > 5H or 4i-PW. Loving this setup
