Did I make a mistake?

I've tried to post to an equipment thread a twice over the last day or two. Each time I get message that the post needs approval. So, a few things: (1) how long does approval usually take? (2) The thread I wanted to post to was last active about 2 months ag0 -- is there a time limit for responses? (3) My response included a link to a review I posted on another site -- is this inappropriate?

It depends.... There is one site where a link or a reference to it will not be looked on nicely (has spy in it). Some topics are deeply divisive and all posts need approval and if the thread is closed or inactive, there may be no ability to post in it. I guess if your post has any hint of politics or religion in it (I once posted a picture that I didn't realize had a small part of the picture that contained a political reference and it was denied), it won't be posted. Or a reference to marginalize someone or is insulting (even if unintentional) to a person, that also could lead to it's deletion.

(1) It can take anywhere from a few minutes to 24 hours or more. Depends on when a moderator reviews the approval queue.

(2) There are no time limits for responses.

(3) Certain words and site names are flagged for review/approval.
