Playing Pebble Beach early March - looking for another course.

Playing PB and SG March 3rd and 4th. I have the 5th open, where should I play?

Also, how are the course conditions this time of the year?

FYI - Spanish Bay closed and Poppy Hills is punching on the 4th.

Ha I have never seen Spyglass abbreviated as SG.

Maybe up the coast a bit to play Pasatiempo before they shut the back nine down for remodel in early April?

The obvious downside of going to Pasatiempo is that with both nines open - the front restored, the back not yet - it costs $385 to play. Of course if one is paying full fare for Pebble Beach this is likely not an issue, but it is worth noting.

Obvious choice closer by would be Pacific Grove Muni... but that would be a major let down after the first two.

As for conditions in early March... all courses are quite likely to be soggy, and there's a strong chance you get rained on. But there's also a strong chance it'll be fine!

Yeah some courses drain better than others around here and who knows how much rain we'll get between now and early March. If it's in your budget play Pasa for sure. If Spanish and Poppy are out and you don't want to drive close to an hour north to play Pasa, I'd do Quail depending on rain and conditions. Del Monte gets very soggy and Bayonet/Black Horse aren't really up to par with all the work being done on and around the course. Not to mention the rain and foot traffic have pummeled areas right around the greens...so you're chipping off mud on a lot holes . If you want to stay local you could always play Spy twice 😆.
