longest drive (lets be honest)

Recommended Posts

I weigh 100 pounds and hit a 425 yard drive.

It was a cold brizzy day as I looked down the the first fairway. Bunker left, bunker right, small fairway. 457.23 I said as I estimated the distance to the center of the cup. I had a strong wind in my face. As I took aim, I figured that the cart path was my only hope. I took dead aim at the center of the cart path (Not really, but that's what I told everyone). A hit an amazing drive right on the cartpath, bounce bounce, bounce as it followed the cartpath down a hill. A perfect drive, 425!!!

Not too sure but my longest one without cartpaths was about 355, downhill a bit and was in about 100 degree weather, I had shot 2 under on the front and then through 5 on the back was 8 over so i was angry, just swung as hard as i could and hit a huge high hook that carried about 290 and rolled 60 yards, i wish i could channel that anger without playing crappy to fuel it

Happened yesterday in simulator: exactly 300 :clapping: (my first time this year; it still winter here). Last year, I've done 281 (Rapture 10.5*, Aldila 65X). But yesterday, it was the first time it try these drivers in simulator environment, and I did it with my G5 7.5* (first time I hit balls with this one) ;) And I must tell that the simulators (where I go) are accurate (not a store :clapping:)

I hit once 310 - 320 last year, but it was a little bit wind (not too much, but still).

My usual "average" last year was 260 - 280.

my longest was 350-360. it was a par 5 with this waste area 345 yards away with long grass and bushes. I was on the ouer edge on the other side of it. I just pured it with a hard lash thinking i had no chance of hitting it that far...

I pumped one last year on the 18th at my country club. It's something like 260 to carry the ditch and I bombed it way over. I probably hit it in the 320 to 330 range.

I also went to some small public course last year, both par 4's are short. One is 305 and the other is 320 yards and I hit both greens

I am a longer hitter for my size, 280-290 are my average distances so yeah, it isn't too suprising if I catch one and its around 300

356 yards :cheesy: and I still don't know how it happened because my average is around 270. I was playing the 412-yard par 4 5th hole in our yearly club 4-ball championship. After hitting a straight tee shot, I drove to the 150 yard marker where my ball usually ends up on this hole and I couldn't find the ball. My partner and I searched a couple of minutes before the other team yelled "Is that a ball up there?". Sure enough, there was my Titleist ProV1 with 2 green dots setting about 50 yards from the green. I then realized this was the hole that awarded a prize for the longest drive and mine was about 15 yards ahead of the current leader's mark. With only 3 groups left to play this hole, I just knew I was taking home the $150 for longest drive. Just my luck, the next to last group had a player hit one about 2 feet past mine. AAARRRGGGGG!!!!!!! :cheesy:

  • 1 month later...

The longest actually recorded and measured long drive I have had was 298. It was at a charity tournament about two months ago and I won a really nice stainless steel BBQ.

My longest unofficial was about 310 when we paced it off from the 150 marker.

My swing speed is usually around 105 - 110 and I only hit the ball about 270 most of the time.

558 yard par five 210 left into the hole after drive... slight down hill to the right.

I'm not sure its my longest drive... that is in the interior of BC golfing with the super (good friend)... who GPSed the yardages himself.

I thought he was being generous but was chatting with course marshall who was out watching as well.

so i had altitude and a slight down hill. side wind / slight head wind.

it had been drizzling, however the fairways were very hard.

I hit a few 300 + that day... and usually do so in a round.

my clubs are nothing fancy older smaller cleveland launcher graf blue shaft.

I'm no big hitter with a swing speed probably around 103-105 but I played this course lake chabot and there is 673 extreme downhill downwind par 6. That's right a par 6. I swung the driver as hard as I could and flushed it and had about 240-250 in. That's like something around 400 but on that hole I'm sure people do that all the time. The second best drive was on Diablo Creek Golf Course on number 5 from the whites had like 80 in and that's like 310 or so.

My avg drive is 250 at best so heres my story:

#17 at Kapalua Plantation. Card said 467 but the tees were about 10 yards up that day and it was downhill, downwind. Drove it left center near the wetlands that cut across the fairway. We stepped it off at 325. Dropped a bomb from the other side of the green for my only birdie of the day. On to the next tee we go...

#18 at Kapulua is the 585 par 5 but the tees were up one box. I'm on my honeymoon, just cranked a 325 yard drive and made birdie on the previous hole, there's a galewind at our backs and I'm just full of myself so...I manage to hit another monster drive (for me) and get on in two with a 5 iron. That fairway is just crazy-the ball will just roll forever. Anyway, I'm pumped now, putting for eagle. Never made an eagle on my own ball before. Flag is left front center and I'm almost pin high but on the upper plateau. Did ya'll know there is a bunker over there about 8 feet deep? Yup I putted the ball off the green and into that bunker. Made one heck of a sand save though. The wife still laughs about that one.

Just like the previous post, my longest drives were also at Kapalua Plantation Course.

My average drives are about 250-260.

Last month,

I hit a 290 drive on #1. But I 3 putt for a double bogey. The green was so fast and right then I knew that it was going to be a long day putting.

#7. I teed it up higher than usual and just put on a easiest swing and it carried over the hill and it went. When I came over to look for the ball, I couldn't believe how far it was. 385 drive and I was left with a short pitch. Got on with less than 10 but another demoralizing 3 putt for bogey. :clapping:

#17, I hit it straight and it carried all the way down the hill. About 175 left so that was a 310 yard drive. My playing partners were all cheering me on as I took out my 24 degree hybrid. I went for it, got on and 2 putt for a par.

On #18, I hit a draw which isn't the greatest thing to do on #18. I couldn't see where it landed so just in case, I hit another one. I feared that I lost the first ball but it was still in play and I had about 310 left. 350 yard drive yet I still had so much left, so I had to lay up. I finished with a par. I was really proud of myself for finishing the last two holes like that.

In the end it was really gratifying of challenging all 7263 yard of Kapalua. When we started, two of the playing partners suggested the white tees but I said "lets try the black tees and if it gets brutal we'll play the whites." We all stood up for the challenge and we had a great time. Now, I have alot more respect towards those guys on tour.

Funny part was that despite all the long driving, on #9, I hit probably a 200 yard drive. Against that howling wind, I couldn't even carry it down the hill. In the end, I shot a 9 on that hole. Any holes against the wind, it felt like the longest hole I've ever played.

My longest drive was also at the Plantation course in Maui on my honeymoon last July ............... We also played the tips and the 18th was playing 663 ................. My normal drives are in the 270 - 280 range .................... Wind was blowing steady at 35 miles per hour and we had caddies ............... I hit my drive right on the screws and it carried well down the right side of the fairway and landed on the "speed slot" according to my caddy and landed up 415 yards down the fairway on the left side .................... 6 iron to the front of the green ................ two putt for the bird.

This past thur. on a par 5 525 yard dog leg left, i hit it over the 150 marker, through the fairway and over the trees into the next fair way for a grand total of 425 yards. even though not in the right fairway still won the long drive contest because it was in a fairway. they must have let the rules slide this time i guest.

funny thing is that i would have never found the ball unless the guys in my group drove over to the next fairway. they have been playing the course for some 40+ year and said they have never seen a drive that long

i new i hit it good but not that good

that is a truely amazing story considering these:

"The greatest recorded carry of a golf ball is 418.78 m (458 yards), by America's Jack Hamm, at Highlands Ranch, Colorado, USA, on July 20, 1993."

"Jason Zuback … Holder of the Longest Drive Ever in the Final Round of the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship (412 Yards 2 Feet 3.5 Inches)

----

YOU DIDNT TELL US HOW YOU FINISHED THE HOLE???

Wasn't Jack Hamm a linebacker or something? I know NBA Hall of Famer Rick Barry is a top long drive guy and I think he is about 60 years old now. Pretty amazing because basketball must beat the heck out of a person's body. Not as bad as football but Shaq & Barkley are pretty beaten up.

There are so many x factors in distance....

I believe people that they hit 310 330 350 why not?

hard ground and flexible bodies a touch of altitude... it is all possible.

I regularly golf at sea level when visiting family... its damp etc... the ball doesn't fly as far....

back in the prairie the ball flat out wants to fly... then roll...

I hit a 3 iron (big draw) so far it was ludicrous when i first moved out here.

the gods of the PGA aren't pulling out their big sticks all the time. I'm sure that the driving distances if they did so would be silly.

This was on a 410 yd Par 4 with the wind behind my back.

I drove it along the right side of the fairway. It bounced on the edge of a man-made concrete water hazard and bounced so much that I had only 55 yds to the hole.

I had never found myself in such a position yardage-wise.I took Lob Wedge and left it just short of the green. However, chipped and made a single putt and made par.

I almost drove a par 4 that was playing at about 288yds from the tees we were using. I was playing with my co-workers and they played from the second to closest tees (4 sets of tees). So, they thought I was some kind of machine or something. I've hit them at like 310 on the simulators. But, that has never happened on the course.

250.

Did it today with a three wood, I was 75 yards out, right side of the fairway on a 325 yard par 4. It was a relatively low shot for most goflers but it was a pretty high 3 wood for me. It had about 30 yards of fade on it (hole goes that way) and probably got a bunch of role off a fairway that runs slightly away from the tee once you get inside 150.

Weren't expecting that, were you?

270 2 days ago. I was playing a 376 yard par 4, straight and level, no wind. I usually hit it in the 240-250 range. I just got lucky with this one and I hit it with a pretty mid trajectory and it bounced on the cart path a couple times and I ended up ~106 out. I did hit it a little better than usual so I assume I had about 250 carry and another 20 of bounce.

I hit one 406 down wind and off of a cart path in a tournament, and in another tournament I hit one 387 again down wind. Both times the wind was gusting in the 30 to 40 MPH range. Longest drive on flat ground with no wind was 346 and that was mapped off by a GPS system.
