LAB Questions. Length adjustments and grip change on counter balanced putter?

If I want to cut my DF3 down an inch and change the grip, will that throw off the balance? 

 

It's currently 39, and thinking of chopping an inch off? 

 

With that said, I want to change the grip from the Garen Quad 17 (120g) to a SuperStroke 1.0P 17 (142g). Would the added weight and the reduced length negate each other?

Similar question here…I’m looking for a Broom in 50” @ 79.5 degree and was wondering if I’d be good to go if I found. A 48” one @ 79.5 degree and then added a 2” extension.

If you change the length or the grip it will no longer be lie angle balanced.

I could be mistaken, but I believe if you add to the putter length, you alter the lie equally. So if you extended a 48" 79.5* you'd end up with a 50" 81.5*.

You can't even add an inch? I thought I read on here that they can be adjusted up to 1.5" without effecting the balance. But I certainly could be mistaken.

I read that here. Then I was told that you could adjust it up to an inch by LAB. I did that and the putter was no longer lie angle balanced. I then talked to a different person at LAB who told me that changing the length or the grip weight could make the putter out of balance.

I have a similar question on grip change. If I change from The simple Lab grip (94g) to a Garsen Tour Tapered at 70g, will this effect the putter and the torque balance? I don’t want to swap the grip if it will dramatically change anything. These putters are finicky.

I’ve been told by LAB that grip changes within 25 grams will be okay. I changed the grip and the balance seems the same. Not sure about the length change and not sure how that’s affected if you do both.

They say within 25 grams is ok but there are other customer service reps that will tell you any grip change will affect balance.  I changed from a superstroke tour 2.0 (55g) to superstroke tour 2.0 xl (77g).  The putter was built and balanced with the superstroke tour 2.0.  Once I changed the grip, I could immediately feel some torque and knew the club was not balanced.  I played one round with it and sent it back in and paid the $100 to have it rebalanced and when it came back I immediately felt the difference (night and day).

Dang. Wondering if I can cram like 20g of lead tape under the grip or something before install? 😂

Did a fitting at CC today and chose a Mezz. I don't want to wait 8 weeks, so I got my specs and I'll start looking at secondary markets for what I want. I called LAB direct today and asked them about changing grips and if it's possible or if it changes the weighting. I was told 10-15 gram differences in the grip is ok, and anything past 15 can reintroduce torque to the head. FWIW
