Edinburgh Courses

We will be hanging out a couple days in Edinburgh (pre-St. Andrews and post-St. Andrews) and might try to squeeze one round in just as a change of pace from the links or coastal venues.  Any recommendations? I've taken Skillest lessons from an instructor in Edinburgh and he recommended Bruntsfield. Anybody play it? Maybe Murrayfield? They both seem to get decent reviews.

Bruntsfield is wildly over priced without a member to host. You could go working class and play Braid Hills. Some wild holes and beautiful scenery.

My club here in Australia has a reciprocal with Newbattle near Edinburgh. I have no clue if it’s any good or not.

Bruntsfield is a pretty decent track, quite pricy and always felt a little like visitors were there on sufferance (but it’s a long time since I’ve been there).  Worth remembering that it’s not located in Bruntsfield but in Davidson's Mains on the NW side of the city.

Murrayfield is OK but probably not in the top tier of Edinburgh clubs. (I’d say top five are Bruntsfield, Royal Burgess, Mortonhall, Duddingston - I’m a member so may be biased but I think it’s a great track - and, although it’s strictly in East Lothian, Musselburgh).  Murrayfield is  built on the side of Corstorphine Hill as is Edinburgh Zoo - so you may hear unusual noises during backswing!
