Do I need to feel more tilt in backswing?

No matter what feels I try or drills I work on, I still bring the club inside and under plane on the backswing.  Do I need to feel more tilt initially to get the club path more vertical on the way back?  I notice in the video I steepen slightly in transition which makes me think I’m too flat on the backswing. Ball striking’ isn’t bad but the low lefts sneak in sometimes. Thoughts?

No, you need to use your forearms and wrists quite differently.

Wrist set needs to be more vertical, but the pelvis sway in backswing is a much bigger issue.

Yes, as an effect by moving clubhead downward when moving clubhead away, of course the ground prevents that direction but you'll get tilt by trying, which will start addressing the flat shoulder, arm over-roll, too quick to handle, backswing.   

 

Practice 50-yard pitch & punch shots which will address sway if done correctly.
