I've not bought into the silliness of this day, nor the myth of Padric - yeah, there's a story on that, but it's not about golf so pm me if you really want to know). While helping Odell Trueblood in his shop, I came across two sets of Shamrock clubs. One was Shamrock Golf Co. out of California (been

out of business for well over 2 decades. And then there was the set pictured below - Shamrock OPEN , the 3 iron is shown. They are all cavity backed, no ferrule, TT Dynamic R irons & crappy Winn grips (think I did that some time ago, prior to learning just how cruddy Winn grips last). 

 

I 've tried to google the Shamrock Open golf club set, but mostly what surfaces is a bunch of shamrock open tournaments around the country. I remember Odell said there was a Shamrock Hotel in Houston some time ago (which would mean many decades now). Didn't really know what I was looking for, so google didn't help much. Just 2 months back, the Texas CO-OP Power magazine had an article on "The Green Carpet" - the Shamrock Hotel in Houston, opened in 1947, by a Texas oil dude. He went totally extravagent - hotel was nicknamed "the Houston Riveria". Howard Hughes gave a good deal on a plane so that Hollywood stars & starletts could get there (Ginger Rogers, Errol Flyn, Dorthory Lamour & many more). The hotel was huge & in Art Deco style...didn't last sold to Conrad Hilton in 1955, demolished in 1987.

 

Enough history....I wondered if this set of clubs might have something to do w/perhaps the Hotel sponsoring a Shamrock Open on or around the 17th of march. The club heads remind me of early Ping EYE II's, especially w/the no ferrule.
Just wondering if anyone might know a bit more....or any idea.
