Ventus Blue 6X to Tensei 1K Black. Any other suggestions

I had played the Ventus Blue 6X for a couple of seasons and was really happy with the results (TSr 2 10* head).

SS was 105 and ball speed was 145ish.  Average drive was 289 carry rolling out to just over 300.

Last year I got in the gym and lost 40 pounds and improved strength.  Now SS is 115 and ball speed is 165.  The Ventus Blue started spinning too much and went from 2300 rpm to 2700 RPM.

I tried the Tensei 1K black 65X that came in my TSr head and saw immediate improvement in numbers.  RPMs were around 2200 and distance improved to 303 carry rolling out to 325.

The 1K black performs very well on good shots.  Its as good as anything.  But it sucks on mishits.  Very harsh and I have no confidence on off days.

I have tried the Ventus Black and was not happy with the feel.  It's so different than the Blue IMO.  I did try the Blue TR and was so-so.  Would be willing to give it a go again.

Is there anything else I am missing that I should try?  Will the Blue 6TX reduce spin enough to get those numbers.

AD VF/UB, Diamana PD/WB/GT.  TR Blue in TX could also work to get spin down a little bit.  VF and UB are exceptionally smooth and mid-low/low.  VF is similar to the TR Blue in terms of EI profile but feels better and launches just a touch lower.  Diamana PD and WB are true low/low that aren't super smooth but have enough feel to them, IMO.  They are different though in that PD is a classic whiteboard/X100 profile where it's stiff in the tip and mid with a softer handle.  WB has a softer tip with a stiff mid and handle much like the GT.  However, the GT is mid-low/low and super smooth.

Sounds like you need to try Tensie 1K pro white in 6x and/or tx based on what you are saying.  It's results are similar to 1k Black but has higher end materials which allows for more feel without losing contol or adding spin. Going to a TSR3 instead of a TSR2 would also likely help a lot now that you have more speed.

Others that might make sense based on your comments

Smoke Green PVD (can buy new on ebay for less than half of original price now and is still played on tour today)

Diamana WB

GD VF

If you want to try adding weigh to your head (because you picked up speed) you may also want to try counter balanced shafts with similar profiles to the ones above:

Tensie Pro 1k orange - in between white and black with the CB benefit

Hzrdus T1100 Hulk (go down 1 flex on this one) X is really a TX, S is really an X

Thanks for the input everyone. My wife uses a TSR3 so I’m going to test it with a few shafts. Never thought about that before.

I know you've got a lot of experience with shafts so I'm hoping you'll be able to answer this. How would you describe the differences in feel and performance between Ventus Blue 6x, Tensei 1k White 60x, Tensei AV white 65x and GD IZ 6x?

I played the GD IZ 6x in my old TSi2 and liked the feel, was a bit spinny but I have moved into a Darkspeed LS head now so am wanting to try that combo, I am currently using a AV White 65x but something doesn't quite feel right about it but performance seems good. I have a Ventus Blue 6x on the way and am unsure if I should try get a Tensei 1k white to try as well.

Ventus Blue and IZ play and feel the the softest outta the bunch.  They also spin the most and are prone to the lefts if transition gets too quick/aggressive.  Not a fan of the AV White as it felt dead and performance was meh.  It's low/low much like the 1K Pro White which is my favorite of the bunch.  1K Pro White had the crazy high ball speeds but was also prone to the lefts.  Smoothest feeling shaft of the bunch.

Would you put Ventus Blue or IZ as softer? I think I need to try the 1k Pro White. It sounds like it might be a really good fit.

Well, Ventus Blue has that kick in the mid whereas the IZ is linear and doesn't kick as much.  Tough to say which is truly softer but if anything, the VB feels a bit softer.

I went from 110-115 ss with 6x blue and it started feeling soft. Now at 116-120 tx blue has been a lot better. Still has some days where it goes left (my swing) but i don't see any spin issues. Tipped 1/2". It launches/feels almost the same as 6x blue but i cant overload like i was with 6x.

I didn't get along with TR Blue and didn't love ventus black (tho im testing it today at a demo). TR blue 6x was a spin killer for me but i don't like the super stiff TR material in the handle.
