Club Weight with Shaft Change

I've been recently trying out new shafts in my G410, and when I put a Ventus Black 6s in my driver felt like a sledgehammer. I was wondering why the dramatic shift in head weight from my IZ 6.

I assume the grip is the same?

Double check the playing length and check the swing weight.

Even with no change in length, changing shafts can result in a change in swing weight due to balance point differences between shafts.

Also changes in shaft stiffness can sometime change the perceived heft/weight of the club. Sometimes stiffer can make it feel heavier.

Biggest difference is the IZ has an MCC and the Ventus has a Tour Velvet, but other than that they are the same length. And the Tour Velvet is a heavier grip so it should make it feel lighter, right?

Raw shaft weight is within 3g, so that shouldn't do it. The IZ is not listed as "counter balanced", but the balance point could still be higher than the Ventus. Is it possible some extra weighting was used on the Ventus during assembly? I would have the club weighed (total and swing weight) with both shafts to see what the ACTUAL difference is.

You can't believe what the swing weight scale tells you happens with a different grip weight. Different people will get different results as to how the perceived heft of the club changes with a heavier grip. It could feel lighter, heavier, or no difference.

I'm not sure about the Ventus during assembly. I bought it here. I have a feeling it is the balance point.

Many golfers, myself included, prefer their equipment to be weighted "outside the norm" if you will. I use tip weights as high as 10g quite often along with a bit of lead tape when needed to get the feel I like. Ping heads tend to run a bit heavy also and your original shaft may be weighted with that in mind. Hence why you should have the weighting checked by a competent technician.
